My dad got me an off brand like the one he has. Because I live in an apartment I get a lot of cell phone notifications about who is in front of my door, but after a couple of incidents here it is worth it. I like mine and my dad and Diana like theirs. My sister and BIL have an actual Ring.

Other than seeing what animals are nearby don't know what else..Maybe keep from being startled or something

I really like the feature that even if I am not home, I can see any activity through my phone and it tells me if someone is by the door.

I am not sure how this would work without a smartphone? I mean...you could hook it to your computer, but that would have to be on to even get notifications for the camera.

@MarieCoyle I bought one with a separate screen. The screen has to be plugged in and on to work. It was one of the only ones I found that didn't require a smartphone.

I personally really like the smartphone option. I like that I can see who comes to the door when I am not at home, and often I am gone a lot, it's been very helpful.

My oldest son decided mom needed door cams so yes, I have them. I think in my case it gives me peace of mind.

I don’t live in a scary neighborhood or anything, but I want to see who is on the other side of the door. I guess I am being cautious, but it’s ok because if I don’t know them, I don’t answer the door.

I don't. I want one but I also don't want to pay for internet. There are options but I don't have the intellect or patience to try to figure them out. Not my wheelhouse. There is already 1 up here on the 3rd floor along with 2 on the 2nd and 2 on the ground floor.
