Today's fireworks drama, I can't take much more of this.

We have reached way past the ridiculous stage of the booming fireworks at all hours of the day and night.
Last night, every time I drifted off, there were booms, again and again. I ran two fans for noise, but the fireworks were very loud. I found out today they were several blocks away, and the guy was arrested. Good.
About 7:;30 PM this evening, I heard a loud popping noise that my son swore was a machine gun of some type. Very regular with the shots/noises, and absolutely terrifying. Sirens shortly after this started...a house close to the one that caught fire and burned down the other night from fireworks decided to make some big noise with a ''firecracker roll'' special thing you can evidently buy in Indiana so of course these people bought it and lugged it home to Illinois. Police sirens, then they even blew the siren thing that announces tornadoes, supposedly to keep us all inside (who in the world would go outside, if you thought it was a machine gun?)
Neighborhood grapevine, and the Facebook page that is for our particular city, explained it and said it was one of these firecracker rolls called Sky King, that are specially made to scare the pants off of anyone...and they surely did. Hundreds of ''shots fired'' loud pops...I do hope they got arrested, too. Maybe I will find out at 10 PM when the news comes on.
What makes people do these things? Are they bored? Wanting to cause trouble and scare people to death? They don't realize it's July 8th now, not July 4th?

Back when I was a kid and the illegal fireworks were legal, they were shot off for a full week before and after the 4th.
To some, the percussion, the scent, the bright array of controlled fire is fun and exciting. They aren't thinking of others. I'm certain no one is lighting off their fireworks to harm or upset anyone.
I will be the first to admit that if a person doesn't like fireworks, even one day of reports can be trying. All you can do is either find them and report them or do the best you can to ignore it. Until New Years Eve, lol.
Sorry they are dragging this out. I hope they stop soon.

It all started nightly about the middle of June. It’s been three full weeks of this, and most people are so tired of all the noise.
I never report them as they are not in my immediate neighborhood, they are a few blocks away. But I don’t have to, evidently enough people report them.
Thank you, many of us hope that stops very soon.

@MarieCoyle That seems to be becoming the norm nowadays. I agree it's not good.

That kind of attitude can often lead to truly bad behavior, which of course we all don't want to see.

There is such an attitude now that some people just don't care...about anyone. They do what they want to do, when they want to do it, and if you don't like it, too bad. It's not good.

I don’t get it. When I was a kid, the only thing that was legal was “sparklers.” These things cause trauma to pets and to veterans, so what is the purpose of buying 14 tons of them to set them off from July 1 until Labor Day????

I know, I don’t get it, either. We had sparklers—with supervision!

I wish they were totally banned in every state, and we just had the organized fireworks shows and that’s all. It would be enough!

These people don't really think about how it affects others.

Not only do they not think, they just don't care. It's all about them, and only them.

That's awful. I have a bunch of neighbors who surprisingly didn't shoot off any fireworks on our cul-de-sac this year. I think I know why. All of them have dogs and I read where dogs are scared of fireworks.

Every night we think , surely it’s over. And then someone has to start up again. People are angry. They are complaining to the mayor, city council members, police, but it still happens. It’s not as bad as it was but it’s still happening.

Unfortunately, he wasn't the only culprit, and we heard yet more booms this evening.

Most definitely.
So far today, we have only heard 2 booms. I am hopeful that these people are running out of fireworks.

You are correct. It doesn't seem that they care about anyone or anything, except doing exactly what they want to do, when they want to do it--illegal or not.

So, so true! Plus, it's making so many people unhappy, and pets, and the lack of sleep is getting really old.

I think the reason that some people use fireworks after July 4 is due to the fact that they are bored and do not realize their actions are harmful to others.

I only like fireworks displays but no individual booming. We used to have neighbors from all around in Latvia firing off rockets on New Year's Eve when the New Year arrived they were very pretty and colorful all around but not noisy

Before any pyrotrchnics are forcing out everyone's earwax due to very loud noise. And accidents couldn't be controlled to happen. Now they were totally banned.
