Sudden Pool Project

Well, it begins. So far this year we've had a fair amount of good luck keeping the pool in running order and the water a pristine blue. Granted, in the beginning of the season I did have to replace some hoses that had dry rotted. But since that initial "opening," it's been fairly trouble free. Until last night. We saw just a tad bit of algae beginning to form on the bottom, and so we were going to run the vacuum. Got it hooked up to the outlet and then it happened. A hole formed in the outlet hose, so I shut down the pump, cut off the bad piece and reattached it. Only to have a second hole form. Then a third. So, the outlet hose is shot and now I have to replace it. I do have spare, replacement hose handy, so that won't be something I have to trek out for. But it's still a pain in the ass and now I have... A sudden pool project today.

I hope it's an easy fix.

It shouldn't be too awful. Just have to attach it. There's a worm clamp connected to the pump and a screw on connection to the outlet. It will probably take me all of 15 or 20 minutes.

At least it's just labor that you can do yourself... And it's well worth doing, too.

It's always nice when we have projects we don't have to pay someone for, that's for sure.

I was dragged away for the weekend and came back yesterday to find the one side of my inflatable was down. Maybe someone in seven league boots stepped on it...

Not funny, but funny coincidental my sister-in-law texted me Saturday or Sunday saying there were having a pool emergency. Apparently they had replaced all those hoses but one (why wouldn't you replace them all?) and the one remaining hose burst and they lost half their water and were refilling the pool. She said something about going with PVC and ball valves next time.

I did sort of the same thing. I replaced what clearly needed to be replaced and left the one that didn't...it has now burst and needs to be replaced. lol. For me it's a money thing. Why waste money replacing a hose that doesn't need it until it does? I'd like to go PVC, but it's hardly an easy undertaking.
