I Wanted to Make Sure I Had Proof

Not that my wife would not believe me, or even that I would necessarily lie to her, but when it comes to money, particularly in the area of spending, she knows just as well as most of you do here that I can be rather... Tight-fisted with money. I have mentioned many times about my practice of what I call "staggering." In other words, some items go on the list to be replaced, but I very carefully time their purchase to the very end if it's a larger ticket item. Like toilet paper or paper towels, for example. "Can we go one more week and stagger the cost?" Most of our money earns some form of interest, so there is a logic behind my thought process if you were wondering. If I can earn 5 more days interest on my money by staggering a purchase... I make money. All that to say I made a trip to Walmart today and while we are not out of chlorine stabilizer, I wanted to grab a bag anyway just to have it because I know that sometimes, especially when it's particularly hot, it can sometimes be absent from the shelves and I don't want to be caught with my pants down when I need it. Well, they were out of it. It generally costs $20. Because we're not out of it, I took a gamble that when I saw the empty shelf she might not believe me and would think I was just "staggering" buying another bag. So, I snapped a picture for proof just in case she gives me a sideways glance. "No. Really, Sweetie. They were out of stabilizer. See?"

@Ineeddentures I think I will. My dad kept his for quite a while. He's balding now. But he didn't start that until well into his late 60s.

Life used to be easy. The game was simple if you planned ahead. The best deals for pool supplies could be found in September and October. The best deals for de-icer and shovels could be found in March and April. Now with online sales and merchandise resets much more frequent, the deals are harder to find. Stores don't stock the quantities that they used to. Sales just don't happen in store. Online sales don't always offer a discount over in store prices. They changed the game.

This is very true, and rather than get rid of overstock out of season, now they just hold it and put it online, so the deals are less and less.

I always need proof to my son whenever and wherever I go or when he ask me to buy something and I can't find one.

Staggering spending my wife is practicing it. And regret later that item she bought for a couple of days was running out of stock.

Sometimes that happens and then you have to deal with it as best you can. We ran into that couple times with Special Kitty cat litter.

I do the staggering thing sometimes. I tried doing that with my bills during my first marriage, but i t did not fit well with how my husband saw things. He was "pay it as soon as you get it" and I was "do not pay it until the last possible minute." Same idea, and I believe at that time we had a checking account that accrued a tiny bit of interest. That was more than fifty years ago.

I think taking photos is the main purpose of my so-called 'phone'. It's so useful to be able to prove something or show someone something.

Camera phones really have changed the photo-game for sure. No more using up film or waiting for pictures to develop. You can just snap a quick picture and delete it later if it's no longer useful.
