I Hope it Wasn't the Hawk

Yesterday I heard the cats going a little bonkers in the living room and came out of my man room to investigate, and observed there was a rather large hawk perched on top of our light pole in the yard. I went back to grab my camera phone, but just as I got there, naturally, it flew away. Oh well. Such is my luck. A short while later, probably 20 or so minutes I happened to be coming back into my man room with a refreshed cup of coffee and saw a young cat outside my window sitting there. He was really cute. Almost the colors of Grayson. White and gray, but short haired. I immediately noticed he was a bit bloodied. He had a small bit of ear missing at the tip, and some scratches on his face, and a little blood on his second ear. I immediately felt bad for it. Either he had gotten in a fight with another cat in the area or... I thought about that hawk I saw. Did the hawk try to get at him? I suppose it's possible. It was a large hawk, probably a Red-Tailed hawk or a Cooper's hawk, but I'd still think a cat might be rather large prey for it. Either way, I am sure the cat will be fine. But he sure looked like he had himself an ordeal and I hope it wasn't the hawk. I'm sure that would have been a much scarier encounter than a cat fight.

I'd be playing medic with the stray cat trying to fix it up. I do love hawks though. I think they're so pretty. But I wouldn't want one preying on a cat.

@BarBaraPrz Not 100% positive. But most of the ones that roam around are. It would be better if it were someone's cat since I'm sure they might help him out better.

It's always the struggle I have with nature. I understand it, of course. Everyone's gotta eat and that means someone has to be eaten. Still, it's always painful to see it in full, living color. Out of sight, out of mind is always my preference. Even when it comes to me enjoying a good animal for a meal. lol. I'd like to play medic too, but most of the strays are skittish and won't let you get anywhere near them.

I am sure he is. Cats are pretty resourceful and quite capable of defending themselves.

I feel bad that the poor cat was hurt and certainly hope it didn't tangle with the hawk.

Me too. In an odd way I'd prefer it came from two cats duking it out than a hawk trying to eat him.

Oh wow! You could easily be right about the hawk taking on the cat. I hope he'll be okay - the cat, that is, of course.

He didn't look too badly beaten up, but pretty badly beaten up. That hawk can go find another meal and leave this little kitty alone, if he was the giver of the wounds. lol

That's scary if it was the hawk. I hate to see any animal injured.
