For Tonight and More It's On-Cor

When it comes to dinner, I am mostly a "from scratch" kind of a guy. But there are nights when I "cheat" a bit and make something processed. I know it's not healthy. But hey, so long as there is moderation and balance, all is good, right? Tonight's dinner is On-Cor pork riblets with oven baked potato and buttered carrots on the side that I will add a little bit of ham glaze mix too. It's kind of like candied carrots, and I always keep the glaze packets when I buy a ham because I never use them on the ham itself. Hey, it's basically just a brown sugar mix. Either way, I have no reason to doubt this will be good eats. What's going on your dinner table tonight?

I've never thought to serve these with relish, but man, that sounds like a very good idea. Maybe next time. I always have some relish on hand.

@Ineeddentures He has you in a "pickle" now talking about relish. We like dill relish and not sweet relish. One year, though, I made some really good zucchini relish.

I cooked boneless chicken thighs, baked potatoes, and fried okra. Those ribs look yummy.

@porwest We've eaten fried okra every day for weeks! Dale picked it today, brought it in and I fried it. It doesn't get any fresher than that! How do you cook yours? I just cut it in small pieces, then roll it in yellow corn meal, salt, and pepper.

@porwest Fresh is so easy to fry even if you don't batter it, just roll it in corn meal.

I haven't bought the boneless ones in a while due to the price. But I used to use them all the time. Good eats for sure. And I love fried okra.

@RasmaSandra Very. All of it. Yes. Very tender. With the Salisbury steaks alone, we're talking more tender than even a hamburger.

I wouldn't say they are REALLY good. But I like them. And they are fast and easy when I'm not really in the mood to cook.

I've never tried any of those On Cor products but they've always looked interesting to me. As you said, there are night when you just don't want to or don't have time to cook from scratch. I never use those glaze packets from ham either but now you've given me a good idea to keep them.

@porwest I think I'm going to try those Salisbury steaks. I'm always happy to have an easy peasy dinner without having to spend too much time in the kitchen. As for those glaze packets....I am looking forward to using them on my carrots.

@Marilynda1225 You will have to let us know what you thought of them if you try them. I'd be curious.

Yeah, those glaze packets, just using a little bit at a time, are great with carrots. I usually use about a half of a tablespoon, but it depends on how many carrots of course and what your taste preference is. But it's really good. The On-Cor products are not excellent, but actually quite good and great in a pinch. My two favorites are the Salisbury steaks and the chicken parmigiana, with Salisbury steaks being #1. And then I often use the gravy with some baked potatoes or save it and use it with a braise for pork steaks. All really good eats.

Gout is never a good time. Had it once when I was younger and thankfully haven't had it since.

The last of my saucy chicken and rice is what we had last night. I do the same with my ham glaze packets, maybe I learned it from you. I do the On Cor Salisbury steaks. May have to try the riblets.

It's a great way to use of those packets since I never use them for the ham, and I hate wasting anything.

It's actually not as bad as it sounds. These remind me of the McDonald's McRib. Sometimes we actually make them into sandwiches with the sauce and pickles, but not this time. But they're not as bad as they "look."

We don’t have that brand in the UK. They do look nice though. It may not be the heaviest but as you say you don’t have them every day, so no need to worry. We all need a treat and a cheat day from cooking now and then.

Yeah. They are a bit of a "local" thing, and I don't think they ship internationally. The company is based out of Aurora, Illinois. Perhaps Banquet is sold there? They have similar products.
