Death of a friend

We just learned that a lifelong friend of ours passed away last night.
It was rather sudden, she seemed fine not too long ago. Not sure, but I think it was cancer that she just didn't know about. She was about 83.
Vivian was one of those quirky people that kept everyone laughing. Her first husband and I were third cousins and our small group of friends all had babies about the same time. We'd party at each other's homes, sometimes dancing at the local Moose Lodge.
One time after a get together at Vivian and Gordon's, we were leaving around midnight and Vivian was in the kitchen sweeping and mopping the floor. I don't think she ever slept.
Our boys were best buddies in school and Boy Scouts. Gordon and Dale were close friends, too. Dale said Gordon was his first friend when we moved to NC.
Our community won't be quite as much fun without Vivian. She was a character for sure. But I know she's with Jesus, probably making Him laugh about something.

I'm very sorry for your loss. It's hard to lose friends of so many years. They are at peace now. Your story was sweet. You clearly loved her. My condolences, Vicki.

@Vikingswest1 You're right, 83 isn't young, but I still don't feel especially old at 77. Well, most days anyway.
