Should Pizza Be Round Or Square?

United States

Traditionally pizza has always been round and cut into triangular shaped pizzas. That's why they call it a "pizza pie." But some restaurants like Little Caesars for example have square pizzas and cut their slices into little squares. I used to be a huge pizza fan. Not so much anymore. Where do you weigh in on whether pizza should be round or square?

I buy round pies but make square pies at home. I am still a huge pizza fan. I use my bread dough recipe for the crusts. Thick crust for me please. Round pies in square boxes with pizza shaped like triangles. Who thought that up?

Your last line sounds like a great comedian joke. Good job!

ROUND, you have to turn the dough on your hand so that the "air" goes toward the borders to have the correct border (cornicione in Italian).

When I was a child, once a month after church on Sunday nights my parents would bring home Little Caesar’s square pizza. I actually like it better because the pieces in general are smaller.

@looeyville Oh round of course. I lost my pizza virginity in Brindisi waiting for the night boat to Greece in November 1977. A night to remember.

I guess we are used to seeing a round pizza but it tastes the same whether it be round or square. A local takeaway store sells rectangular pieces of pizza ….no one has ever questioned this or complained about it to my knowledge.

We used to eat pizza in a round shape. It's weird if it's square. How much more it's triangle, oblong, hexagonal.

There is a place here that has round pizzas, but instead of cutting it into triangles, they cut it like a grid . . . so you get squares in the middle and weird pieces on the edges. It's really not convenient nor fair. The original round makes the most sense .

Just now
So long as it's good, I don't care if it is round or square, triangle cut or square cut.

I don't care what shape a pizza is It could be a pentagon and as long as it was well made and tasted really good I would be happy.
