You will think I am obsessed with celebrities, and I am really not, but after all the scandal with the two tv presenters that have lost their jobs this week, we now have a tv chef who is leaving England to make a new life for himself in Australia.
Gino, originally from Italy, has been a popular chef on our UK screens for around two decades. He does have a cheeky , jack the lad, way about him and that was part of his charm.
Now a couple of people have said that …
1. He made an inappropriate comment
And
2. He once kissed a famous footballers wife on the lips at a function they were both attending.
No smoke without fire …..
Or
Totally OTT
Either way, he has had to sell his house, remove a child from school and move his family to the other side of the world as life for them here has become unbearable.
Is it that ‘ celebrities ‘ think that they are above good manners, living a decent life, and can get away with anything
Or
That we live in a world of snowflakes and a complete Nanny state , where people can be offended ….years after something has been done or said ….and ruin the life of someone , and their families….
Of course these stories are on tv and in the newspapers and all over social media as they concern well known people …but these things could just as easily happen to us every day folk….
Any thoughts ?

But really, is it our business if the chef wants to do things with the footballer's wife? That should be just between the three of them and the chef's wife, since they're the ones it affects.

@DaddyEvil Oh, I meant might he had more harassment accusations coming. Not adultery. Adultery wouldn’t get me out of the country, but harassment accusations would.

@traceyjayne People can be so self righteous, others like to take down a celeb because they think they’re fair game. Offenders need to be put in their place, but things are going too far. Why should someone lose their job for inappropriate talk? Surely there is a better way to resolve these situations.

That’s what I think too.
And, it’s also, for me, that some of these allegations are about things that were done or said, that were years ago.
Surely if things are wrong or inappropriate….thats it ….don’t moan about it a decade later !!!

It's the same with the Gregg Wallace thing
How long did that nasty cow Kirsty Wark wait to stick the boot into Wallace

If you ever watched Celebrity Juice, then you’ll know that this laddish behaviour was encouraged, and was popular tv.
Now we are finding out that many people (mainly women I’m guessing) have personally suffered because of it. I predict we’ll see more programmes like Songs of Praise appearing on our screens. If they can find a holier than thou vicar to host them.

@Traceyjayne Huw Edwards used to be a presenter of Songs of Praise. Says it all really.
I remember when Harry Secombe presented it, or was that Highway? He was great at making that raspberry sound. I don’t think he did it on a Sunday though.

I’ve never watched that show. I could understand that sort of show being questioned though.
Not sure they could find many to front even a Songs of Praise show these days !

Or two and three.
People are oversensitive the past decade or so. Cancel culture is still alive and well. People lose favor today for words said decades ago. Granted, some are warranted.
It isn't limited to celebrities or famous people, simple everyday people have been destroyed too.
People love to build others up to a pedestal status but they enjoy tearing those same people down even more.
We have regressed as a civilization imho.

I never pay attention to anything about celebrities. For one thing, I won't know who they are and for another, I just don't care.
I believe things get blown all out of proportion. I mean, why is it anyone else's business who the guy kissed, whether on the lips or anywhere else? People should mind their own business and leave others alone! He could have kissed the footballer on the lips and I still wouldn't care!

Exactly ….but people are losing everything because of such things.

It's not newsworthy
And it's not worth me taking time to comment on this knob end on Mylot.

I think sometimes it's pointless bringing up stuff that happened long ago. Times/attitudes/social mores have all moved on.
