Pool trip cut short

I headed over there when the sun finally came out around noon. One of the usuals was there with her daughter. The clouds came by and we even got some occasional drops of rain but it was still fine.
Then the lifeguard came around. I thought it was early for him to tell us to get out for his 30 minute lunch. Nope that wasn't it. He said he was just bitten by a spider, had to go to urgent care, and there was no one to replace him so we had to all leave. I don't know if I've ever been bitten by a spider before but I don't think I'd be rushing to urgent care unless it was a brown recluse or a black widow.
So I'm back from the pool. I never did get to try out my new pool blanket. I stashed it in the shed there though. Hopefully it is still there tomorrow. I know last year there were floaties that were stored there that the lifeguards would put out for kids when requested. I guess we shall see.

I’m still kind of impressed you guys have a lifeguard. I’m pretty sure our place would leave a body and just cover the pool.
That reminds me of a guy who said he lived in New Jersey and used to go to this place called Action Park. Do you remember it? He said they painted the bottom of the pool black so they could tell if someone was drowning…

Omg what a wimp the guy must be
Bitten by a tiny harmless spider and rushed to get help before he passed away and made you all leave the pool
No selfie with new blanket!?
Not good

He must have had a worrisome reaction to the bite. I know one time I was bitten by something big and black (it scurried off before I could identify it) and my pinkie swelled up like a cocktail sausage. I called my doctor's office and they told me to come in and get a tetanus shot.

If he didn't see the spider or couldn't identify it, then he may have felt he needed medical attention. I don't like spiders and will kill them as soon as I see one, no matter what kind it is.
Dad got bitten on the tush by some kind of spider when I was a kid. Mom said the wound looked nasty but dad wouldn't go see a doctor about it. (The only time I ever saw my dad go to a doctor was the night he passed away. He was having a heart attack and mom called a neighbor to take him to the hospital.)
I hope your pool blanket is still there next time you go swimming. Good luck!

@NJChicaa It depends on the type of insect. I'm allergic to a lot of stings and bites so I'll kill that kind of insect. I don't like spending time in the ER.

Maybe the young man was allergic...or maybe he just wanted to go home.

I was biten by a spider and although it wasný a brown recluse, it was nasty. I would treat it with respect.
