Have you ever tried any of those memory supplements?

I have always been ADHD but as of late I am forgetting every single thing. I doubt it is any kind of dementia, but I am driving myself crazy with my forgetfulness. I don't tend to forget too many important things, but just am constantly misplacing everyday things, or forgetting where I put them. Just a few minutes ago, I saw the baking soda which I needed, I came out here to give the cat some treats, and when I went back into the kitchen, I couldn't find it again. I couldn't even believe it. I had moved it to another counter, which was unnecessary by the way. I think I may splurge for some focus factor or something like that, and see if it makes a difference.

Nope... I don't want to discourage you if you want to try a memory enhancing supplement but do read up on the latest research about them... Some things might help and some are just bunk. If you don't mind a recommendation, here's a good place to start your research on them:

I know most of them haven't been shown to show great improvements in clinical trials, but I think they are worth investigating, and deciding for yourself.

Thanks for the article, but it didn't mention supplements like focus factor or any of those other memory enhancing pills they sell.

@snowy22315 True... It mentions which supplements you should be seeing if those pills they sell have any of the real ingredients in them.

@Ineeddentures It's paper and pencil stuff, along with anwering questions, repeating numbers fore and back and list making. Now that stuff is not absolutely definitive though..You can take a blood test to see if you have the markers in your blood..it doesn't mean you have it now, but will develop at some point in your life. I chickened out with the blood test..but the sooner you know you have a problem as with most things, the easier it is to treat.

I don't forget important things typically. I have been tested for it in the past couple of years and passed with flying colors.

@snowy22315 So how do they test for it? I have always wondered what the tests entail.

I was just going to say Focus Factor. My 14 year old niece pretty much has ADD, and two weeks ago at her checkup they talked about it, and the doctor suggested Focus Factor. She said it has done wonders for some of her patients, and it has also been good for the doctor’s husband. Because my sister and BIL didn’t want to give her medication at such a young age.

Really, that is cool. I actually have ADD ratther than ADHD but weren't sure people would know what it was. When I am feeling good I am energetic and fidgety, but not to the degree that most who have it are. There are all different types of attention deficity disorders. Glad to know it is working with niece. I might try that if the stuff I ordered doesn't work. That or Prevagen.

Not really. I was told that Ginko nuts does help. But do not over consume as you could get poisoned.

My husband in the past tried supplements, some included Ginko, I have not the feeling that those helped.

I doubt they would help with a chronic condition.

@snowy22315 - When he took those supplements he had not a chronic condition. It was years ago, they did not help, but they gave him terrible headaches, so he stopped.

I heard that they don't do much. Don't feel bad. I used to be a walking dictionary; but I find myself having to check my spelling. Also I have trouble finding words for common items. Not good.

Yes, you forget things you used to know like that. Words for common items could be a sign. It does take me awhile to come with the name of something in conversation on ocassion.

I haven't tried these but have my doubts about them. I don't have any concrete opinions as to why they wouldn't work!

I was always complimented for my elephant memory. I could keep so Manu minute details too in memory. But not any more. After Covid, I feel like blithering idiot at times trying to recall simple things like name of a college friend, movies name and so on.

I have always had a good memory as well, especially for things that are in my long term memory, but I have noticed some decline in remembering movies, actors names etc. However, it is more like misplacing things and not knowing where they are that I have trouble with.
