Trendy Chimps

Chimpanzees living in a sanctuary in Africa have developed a “fashion trend” for dangling blades of grass or sticks from their ear holes and their behinds, a new study shows. The behavior is more of a “fashion trend or social tradition.
It all started 15 years ago, when researchers at the Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage Trust chimpanzee sanctuary in Zambia noticed that when a female chimp started sticking objects in her ear, the rest of her group eventually followed suit. There was no practical need for grass and sticks to belong in their ears, researchers noted — they were merely following a trend set by the most fashion-forward chimp among them.
As they say - whatever floats your boat.

They're trying to keep up with the humans they interact see/interact with... Why shouldn't they make themselves look beautiful if they want?

@DaddyEvil you are absolutely right I mean some human fashions seem rather ridiculous so let the chimps do as they please

@Deppizzaguy and remembering some human fashion trends I would rather consider something the chimps might offer, I wonder what they would think about wearing hats I have one too many,

@Nakitakona unlike humans who sometimes are reckless following senseless trends at least the chimps do what they feel is right

@RasmaSandra well humans are weird. They deviate their activities from the normal social norms.

Doesn't it sound like they impersonating us with and jewelry. We seem to come from one of them, which ones, no one seems to know, ape something and yet now they copying us and we come from them. I find that funny.

Monkey see, monkey do.
Imitating humans, no doubt. I have read that some chimps have been known to carry tools with them. Usually a stick that has the right bend for a task they plan on doing.
It's funny that, like humans, other chimps will copy another chimp wearing swag, lol.

@Vikingswest1 sometimes for some things it might even be better to follow chimps than how some humans act

Funnily enough last night l saw a video of a mother gorilla rearranging some straw she beckoned her baby to come & the baby threw the straw up in the air & walked off. The mother just sat there then raise both hands over the tops of her eyes in disbelief. I thought it was funny how she reacted like a human & was exasperated with the babies behaviour!
