Programming Annoyances

When I switched laptops this last time, I had to switch because my screen on my Win10 laptop got damaged somehow... The top left corner started turning a shimmery black and that black color started creeping down my screen...
Pretty had the same laptop but never used it. (When I was still at Walmart, any time they had a really good sale for laptops/tablets, I bought some and gave most of them to Pretty because she was using them to earn extra money. I kept one laptop and one regular tablet for myself.) She gave me her new, still-in-the-box laptop and I set it up and started using it.
Then, Microsoft changed my Win10 laptop to Win11 without asking my permission... I didn't notice the change until a few months later and they wouldn't let me switch it back without a bigger hassle than I was willing to put into it.
Most of the programming seems to be the same except Microsoft started sending new backgrounds to my laptop whenever they felt like it. (I always set up my electronic devices with a solid black background and set the pages to a black background with white text, too. It's much easier on my light-sensitive eyes and uses less power overall. [With the exception of myLot's background.
I can't change that bright white background for love or money, no matter what I've tried... I can force a change using one app but then myLot programming takes over again and switches it back. *sigh*])
When I need to go to the desktop for some of my folders, those sudden background changes make my eyes burn and water so I decided to do something about that today... Ta-daa! My background is back to solid black again and I don't have to squint to work with my folders anymore.
Do you enjoy programming changes, especially when they happen without notice?

It was doing that to me, too. I hated that!

@DaddyEvil The wall pics are good, so I just let them be. I don't want to stress myself finding out how to block the app.

@Jenaisle If you like them, there's no reason to block the app.

I actually kind of like the changes! I enjoy seeing the wallpapers switch up—it’s like a little surprise window into a new place every time I open my laptop. Makes me wonder where some of those stunning photos were taken. Totally get why you’d prefer a solid black setup, though—especially with light sensitivity. Glad you got your background sorted again!

@DaddyEvil That's correct l always check it especially if the photo is beautiful and interesting. At times when i like it l would go back to that and let it stay at it for a while.

@rsa101 Very nice! There were some stunning photos but none of them, in my opinion, were nice enough for me to worry about saving them. It's easier on my eyes to stick with the black backgrounds.

I used to like figuring out what they changed and learned to use it... Now, I don't want them to make changes anymore.. If it's still working, leave it alone!

I need everything the way O like it to be and no sudden changes otherwise I worry and that ups my anxiety, Right now I am trying to switch from using the laptop to using the desktop but when I tried writing an article on the desktop it apparently did not save it and I redid it on the laptop, The document was done through LibreOffice,

I've done editing with LibreOffice on my laptop... And I agree... They need to leave programming that works just fine alone. Create something NEW if you feel like working on something other people depend on.

I have set my back grounds to one of my favourite photos. I am a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to working on different machines. I prefer my desk top computer which l call baby. My lap top mini baby & my tablet l call nasty. As for my phone I hate it as it is too small & fiddly to use these days. I like things set up in a certain way & when updates happen & change things I spend hours getting it back to what I am comfortable with.

My desktop background was a picture of the sugarcane we grew at our last house... Every background since then has been plain black.
I don't take my phone online but it also has a black background so I can read texts and phone numbers easily without hurting my eyes. My tablet is set to black background and white text since I use it as a book reader.
I totally understand. I hate updates and wish programmers would leave things I use alone.

@garymarsh6 I've had that happen, too. The older programming was delicate and had to be babied to get it working the way I wanted it again.

@DaddyEvil On my old pc I dreaded any updates as it always knocked my speakers out & it used to irritate me as it used to take me ages to get them going again. Touch wood it has not happened with this new machine!

Thanks... I agree, new changes seem to make things harder when they should make things easier.

I haven't bought a new laptop since 2014. Thanks for the heads up. I may have to buy desktop instead, but if this is win 10 / win 11 not sure if I would appreciate changing background screens..

You're very welcome. To me, the changing background screen was very annoying and hurt my eyes... As long as you don't have eye trouble, you might like the background changes. Many people claim they like seeing new background photos displayed there.

@DaddyEvil Especially with updates. If it works do not fix it.

@DaddyEvil - In the past Linux was a pain to install, but it's very simple now, the only pain is to install the printer, but I did and I am not a genius, so I suppose it's finally not so difficult.

@LadyDuck I don't have any old laptops anymore to test it out on... And Microsoft is good enough as long as I can shut off programming that I don't like.

Yes, I know... But I like the programming on the Windows computers better than I like Linux... Linux was always a pain to install and I had to keep messing with it.
With the Windows programming, I can shut stuff off if it annoys me too much.

@Tampa_girl7 Once in a while, I ask Pretty what I'm doing wrong... She gets mad because I can't get it myself but does help me figure it out.

Win11 changed some things, like my black background on my laptop... It finally bothered me enough yesterday for me to go looking for what changed and put it back the way I prefer it.
Thank you.

@LindaOHio Thanks... You have a great day, too.
Pretty has a doctor appointment early this morning and I'll need to shower and take her, then take the car to be inspected and tagged this morning... I'd like to get it done before it gets too hot today. (I can see and my sciatic nerve is behaving itself, so far.

@Shivram59 I found another site similar to myLot and was surprised when they gave me a choice between dark mode and light mode there. I'm still trying to figure the site out... I don't know how to do anything there yet... They also pay in crypto, which I'm not fond of but I'm willing to learn... I think.

I agree... I don't understand why that option isn't available on myLot itself when it's "standard" for most other online sites?

@DaddyEvil I really don't know. Mylot is a genuine site. It should have that option.

Yes, I agree... I don't understand why programmers always want to "make things that are working fine" better... If it works, LEAVE IT ALONE!
They think they're helping people by making them better but all they're really doing is making things confusing until we get used to the new way the thing works. If they'd just find something else to make, we'd all be much happier.

I'm good with Win10 and older programming... I had to ask Pretty about Win11 changes. She came into my bedroom and did the changes for me because it takes longer for me to type programming changes/fixes than it does her... At least she told me what she was doing so I could fix it myself if it happens again.

I don’t take much notice to be honest, very often the updates and changes are not so noticeable anyway …they don’t change the way I use the machine.

That's understandable... I only notice if something I use a lot changes and then it has to bug me before I'll do something about it. Or, if it affects my eyes/vision.
