Like Riding A Bike

I haven't been doing my close work-embroidery or cross stitch in years.
Habits and pass times change with time.
Yesterday my husband got me a couple of little counted cross stitch kits to complete.
I haven't done a counted cross stitch project in years. So long that I can hardly remember when.
One of the pictures is fairly easy looking, that I will attempt first.
With teaching the girls new things, I find that repetition is key. Here they are walking down the sidewalk together, singing their A,B,C's as they go. Soon it will be replaced by another song-I'm sure.
I do hope that I pick up the counted cross stitch as easily as it once was-hoping it will all come back to me like riding a bike.

This is funny
Like riding a bike
Well I thought I would try riding a bike again after a few years.
And it did not go to well.
Compared to a motorbike a pedal cycle was really difficult and I failed miserably and I fell off of the damn thing at a junction
Hope the counted cross stitch comes back to you easier than my riding a bike was

One of the two kits is a bit easier looking, so we shall wait and see if I can get it centered, as that is the first step to success with this kind of cross stitch.
One picture is of a hummingbird and the other of a butterfly, but the one with the butterfly has many more flowers on it, which will prove interesting.

That's such a cute picture of the girls walking and holding hands. They are growing up so fast.
I hope you can remember how to do your counted cross stitch. That's something I was never able to figure out. I did love doing cross stitch embroidery back in the day but it was all done on a printed fabric and no counting involved.

@Marilynda1225 He has already started, and those parents of the children in playgroup that he sees 5 days a week recognize this.
He considered volunteering at the school, but he feels that it will hold the girls back as they won't socialize as they should with the other students.
It will be time to cut the Grampa cord next summer.

I always preferred the printed cross stitch, but leave to a man to get what I never excelled at.
The girls are always holding hands or have their arms around each other, they protect each other that way. I hope that this continues as they will need each other in a year's time from September as that will be when they start to school. They have a hard time understanding that Grandpa, who has been with them ever waking moment since they were a year old, will not be joining them on the bus to school or into the classroom. We do not talk about it much because they cry. Once they see the classroom, they may think differently.

@Juliaacv I'm sure they will love school once they get a few days under their belts. Its probably hard for them to understand why grandpa won't be going with them and I bet he's going to be shedding a few tears himself when they go to school.

What an adorable picture. I miss doing needlepoint and embroidery since my hands got so bad; however, I missed it so much that I bought a set of 3 embroidery pictures. They sit in the cabinet. I hope you enjoy your counted cross stitch.

Thank you, you can see how close they are in height.
Harper, who is on the right side of the picture, is just a bit shorter than Willow.
Harper is a bit smarter and alot neater with her colouring and writing her letters.
I would jump at the chance to do some embroidery, but this is counted cross and in my opinion, more difficult.

@Juliaacv I've done needlepoint, petitpoint, embroidery and cross stitch. I've never tried the counted cross stitch. I think it would make me nuts.

I don't know if I'm right. I have seen your stitched work before here. You uploaded it here.

Yes, they are cute as little buttons. My mom used to do cross stich. Her eyesight doesn't allow her to do many of those type of projects anymore though.

My mother used to do cross stitch too. I tried to do it once, but I can't keep the needle threaded.
