Yes, of course we know that the main lessons are….English, maths, history, geography, history, science, ICT, P.E…….
But what do we think REALLY should be taught to help students with their every day life …..
I think the following should be taught ….
How to budget ….opening bank accounts, planning a weekly shop, paying bills, gas/electric ….water, council tax,
How to change a plug …
Decorating …painting and hanging paper
Changing a car tyre
Using tools like ….lawnmower, oven, drill, washing machine, heating system….
How to cook basic meals ….
I could go on …..but …what do you think should be taught in schools ?

In my state students have to pass a financial literacy class before they can graduate. They have brought back a wood/auto shop type class. There was a huge push 15 years ago for every student to go to college. Now there is more acceptance and promotion of vocational education and trades. Not every person is suit for college nor do they need to be.

I think they should teach financial responsibility as it's one of the most important things they are going to need when they graduate.
