Car Was Dead... Sucky Morning...

We just had a new battery put in our car a couple of weeks ago, maybe three weeks ago... And drove it around a few days ago and had no problem. I went out this morning to take Pretty to her appointment with the doctor and the battery was dead... *sigh*
I called the garage for a jumpstart. While waiting for him to show up, I did a little bit of yard work...
The guy got the car going and I mentioned I would be at the garage in a little while for an inspection so I could get the car tagged. He told me not to bother because he was booked solid and couldn't work me in. Then told me they wouldn't be doing inspections anymore after this week. (Inspections are apparently too much of a pain and the garage doesn't get paid enough to do them.) He told me I could go to a dealership for an inspection after that...
The car is running again. Pretty walked to her appointment with the doctor and home again. My eyes are swelling up so we aren't going anywhere.
I haven't slept yet this morning and I'm tired.
How are you doing today? Anything interesting going on?

I'd be more than willing to trade for somebody else's morning at this point.

I think you should ask for a battery replacement. I mean obviously it was defective. I would call the manufacturer, they might ask for documentation but you have that. Poor guy..The dealership will charge a mint, I would look for an alternative personally.

@sallypup I went to sleep this morning and normally sleep two to four hours... I just woke up about 8 hours later... That is not normal for me.

@DaddyEvil You're welcome. Cousin #3 said she may come 2 days this week. One day won't do it. There are months of work to be done here.

Why don't you get a new battery??
Now that the car is running, you have swelling in your eyes. Didn't you see a doctor??

The battery in the car is only two or three weeks old. It was brand new when it was installed.
I see doctors all the time and none of them can do anything about my eyes swelling closed. I have Graves' Disease and one of the things it can do is cause the eyes and eyelids to swell up, closing the eyes against my wishes.

@Shivram59 Thanks... Graves' Disease is a problem with the thyroid gland in the throat. It controls how fast your body does things. It tells your body how hot to keep you, how much to sweat, how hungry you are and runs other functions of the body.
My thyroid always made me feel way too hot. I would be sweating and hot at 75F/24C when other people were comfortable or even slightly chilly at that temp.
I already explained how it makes my eyes swell up and close.
I take meds to make my thyroid run slower so I'm not too hot all the time but the damage to my eyes was already done before doctors realized I had Graves' Disease so they can't do anything about that.

Wow, sounds like a rough morning all around. That’s so frustrating—especially after just getting a new battery. And the timing with the inspection news? Ugh. Glad the car’s running again at least, and hats off to Pretty for powering through and walking to her appointment.
On my side of the world, it’s pouring heavily today, so I’m staying indoors. Just listening to music while my wife’s home too—work’s been suspended—and our son’s come back home as well. I always feel safer and more at ease when everyone’s under one roof, especially in weather like this. Hope you get some rest soon and the day turns around for you.

@DaddyEvil Eight hours of sleep, as long as it’s deep and restful, is enough to rejuvenate both your body and mind. Getting the car checked is definitely a priority to ensure everything is in good condition and there are no unexpected issues waiting to happen.
The rain has been on and off almost the entire day. Every time it stops, I find myself hoping and praying it’s over, but then it starts pouring again. The alerts from our telco warning about more rain to come just confirm that the days ahead will likely remain the same, or possibly get even worse.

@rsa101 I just had $1,700 worth of work done on the car. We know it's in good shape again. We just have to prove that to the government with an inspection before it's legal to drive it on the streets again. That's what new tags signify.
Yeah, you're having a bad monsoon season now. I hope it's over soon.

Thank you. I slept 8 hours after I left myLot yesterday... I'm going to try again to get the car inspected and tagged this morning when the garages open.
I don't blame you... I'd fell more comfortable if Pretty was home in storms like you're having right now. Monsoon rains are no joke!

Didn't someone else have battery trouble recently? They just don't make 'em like they used to.

This battery was the replacement for the one we bought in December. I don't know if anybody else had battery trouble.

Thanks. I slept for about 8 hours straight... That's really unusual for me but I was really tired and upset this morning.
I'm glad things are going well for you, especially the rain stopping for a while.
You have a great week, too.

That car battery is a dud. You should be able to get money back from that.

The garage switched it out for a new one, thanks. If we have trouble with this new one, they'll switch it out for another new one until we get one that holds a charge.

@DaddyEvil When it got to that point here, they just dropped the mandatory 2-year inspections all together, and what was really nice was that they dropped the price to renew your license plate sticker to free. These were a couple of great things that came out of the pandemic.

@Juliaacv They have dropped the necessary inspections but only for cars less than years old. Mine is over years old. I can't afford a new car. This car is just fine after we had work done on it.
Since they stopped inspections for new cars, they stopped sending out the reminder to have your car tags renewed and that's not something people usually think about unless they're reminded.

Thank you... It's more annoying because there are no taxis or other ways to get anywhere in my city if your vehicle doesn't work, for whatever reason.

There has to be a reason this keeps happening. Meanwhile, you might want to invest in a portable jumper. I got one a while back that set me back about $120 (although you might be able to find cheaper). It's rechargeable and works like a charm in a pinch. I hardly ever have to use it, though, luckily.
