Malcolm-Jamal Warner, an actor and artist who rose to fame as a child as Theodore Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” has died, according to a source close to the actor. He was 54. Warner died in a drowning accident in Costa Rica, where he was on vacation with his family, the source said. Warner was swimming at Playa Grande near the town of Cahuita in the province of Limón on the Caribbean coast around 2:30 p.m. local time Sunday, when a current pulled him deeper into the ocean, according to the Associated Press. Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Police told CNN on Monday people who were on the beach tried to help Warner, but he was declared dead by the Red Cross. Another man is in critical condition after being pulled into the current with Warner, authorities said.

I was so sad when I read it yesterday. I just felt sick. I absolutely loved The Cosby Show, despite now knowing what Bill Cosby did.

@AmbiePam that show was worth watching and I still would if I could get it online somewhere, So very sad when something that tragic happens the person with him is in critical but alive.

Sad, but the waters were posted as rough and dangerous with possible rip currents, and he had his 8 year old daughter in there..Screw loose..still it is very sad though.

How sad. I remember when he was on the Bill Cosby show on TV. The current is nothing to play with.

@porwest I cannot even imagine how that must be you go to enjoy yourself and the next thing you know you are in the afterlife and probably left a lot behind unfinished,

@RasmaSandra I am sure it took him by surprise as much as it did us. A lot of the time you never really see disaster coming until it's too late to do anything about it. Very sad.
