I Haven't Gone to the Emergency Room . . . Yet

I know, I know, chest pain isn't anything to sneeze at.
I had my worst pain during lunch while at Chuy's where I ran into @FourWalls and scared her half to death while clutching my chest and asking her whether I should to to Immediate Care or the Emergency Room. She was quick and definite in her response - E.R.!
Hubby and I talked extensively about this and consulted Dr. Google (looked up symptoms online). Apparently if it were a heart attack it wouldn't subside and be intermittent. Mine was happening once every 45 minutes to 1 hour. Also, if it were a heart attack it would be more severe. Mine isn't that terrible.
I don't want to overreact and go to the E.R. taking up the staff's time and denying somebody else who really IS having an emergency the opportunity to be seen timely.
We decided to come home and I went to bed and we decided that if it persists or gets worse I would seek immediate medical attention.
So that's where it things lie right now. Thanks everybody for your advice and concern, especially @fourwalls who didn't know I was having issues when I ran into her.

Check your temp, o2 if you have a meter, BP if you have a monitor and pay attention to symptoms. If they are prolonged or repetitive, it's worth a call and possibly a visit to an urgent care.

Good idea. The reason I got an Apple Watch was because of the EKG feature. My brother said seeing normal readings would calm the anxiety. I know @LooeyVille has one (just saw her!).

I get anxiety at times and by checking to see that all my vitals are within target ranges, it really helps calm me.

@Vikingswest1 This is what happened with my sister. She did not have a smart watch but did learn how to identify symptoms and calm herself down.

That is what ERs are there for. I wouldn't be staying home if I was experiencing it more than once. I would be off to the ER. It is a pretty strong warning sign..if not an actual heart event.

@LooeyVille You're not a doctor. Let them diagnosis it. It is foolish not to. By going now, you may save yourself from serious trouble. Even if it does go away, it might return with a venegance.

If you yourself feel there is definitely something wrong, there is something to be said for intuition. And aren’t you planning another trip soon? You don’t want to end up falling horribly ill in a faraway country!! Go to the hospital. It’s way better to be safe than sorry!!

I think there's something definitely wrong with my heart, just not sure it's a heart attack. Could be costochondritis or something else.

@looeyville That must be frightening and I hope it settles quickly. The positive I take from it is that you’re able to write all about it here while you’re in the throes of suffering and anxiety! I hope you’re able to report good news soon.

Still, it could be a warning sign. I would go to the ER. Don't wait please.

I suppose not being there, not knowing your exact pain or situation, we can easily be on the armchair jumping to conclusions and painting the worst picture possible. Perhaps it's just something else. Hopefully it's just something else. I suppose the intermittent thing does make it different.
Either way, you have our support no matter what happens or whatever you decide. We panic, of course, because we care. And hey, we're like family around here, so that just heightens the panic.
Onward and upward from my side of the aisle, lady.

My sister did something like that. I came home from work, she was having issues. I offered her two Tums, saying if they did not help in 20 minutes we would go to ER. She had me take her immediately. She was having a panic attack. ER wanted to give her Xanax, she refused and they called her primary care who told her she would take it and take home a prescription for when she needed it. If you went to the ER you would get definite information. They would not deny any other emergency either. Remember that women present differently than men with heart issues.
