Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
This building was quite near our hotel. At 243 metres high it has two observation decks in both towers giving fantastic views in Tokyo & far beyond. It is free to go up to the observation decks & many tourists go up where there is a café & souvenir shop. On a clear day you can even see Mount Fuji 80 odd miles away.
It is primarily government offices & the assembly hall of the metropolitan government. There is also a tourist information office and they hold frequent fairs where local & regional goods can be bought.
The great thing about this building there is a projection light show every evening except when there is bad weather. Each show lasts around 15 minutes and are timed every half an hour up to 10 PM.
Fortunately our room on the 26th floor was opposite the building giving us a bird’s eye view. There was also a bar on the 45th floor of the hotel giving you a different view from above.
The Keio Plaza Hotel was the first skyscraper built in Nishi-Shinjuku and the first high-rise hotel in Japan. The hotel has 1,438 rooms. One tower is 178 metres tall & the 2nd tower is 138 metres tall. The hotel has featured in the film The Return of Godzilla where it was supposedly damaged by Godzilla in 1984 & again in 1991 in Godzilla v King Ghidorah.
The photo is of the light show projected on the side of the building.

@celticeagle I remember doing a tour in Kuala Lumpur. While everyone went up I stayed on Terra Firma & had a nice hour touring the peaceful park.

I have & hate heights. I could not wait to get back to the ground of the Empire state building. I did like the Rockefeller centre in New York.

There's no photo image but I can imagine its grandeur, appeal and legacy.
