Wildlife biologists in Montmorency County in Michigan were able to locate a male bear who had a plastic lid around his neck since 2023 but the same officials could not locate the bear until a Hillman resident used his camera to locate the male bear around Wednesday June 18.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) officers set a live trap the bear and remove the plastic lid by putting the bear to sleep for a short period of time so that the officers could remove the head of the bear which was around five inches in the lid.
The bear only suffered scarring and an abscess around his neck, The bear was released by the officials after the effects of the anesthesia wore off.
How did the bear survive having a lid around his neck for two years is amazing to say the least.

It should be easy for someone to secure their lids.

It seems that the lid was not easy to remove, and I wonder how the bear got its head stuck through there like that.

The bear likely was eating more food where a plastic lid was nearby.

Oh the poor bear! For 2 years! I'm so glad they were able to take the lid off.
