There are folks who are in their twenties. They do all kinds of adventurous things on horses and skis and zip lining. Some folks continue to go crazy when they are fifty and sixty.
For me, these days I am delighted that I walk somewhat upright and I haven't fallen in over a year.
I made it to the warm kiddo pool two days this week. Forty minutes of moving and grooving each time- doing exercises I can't do outside the water.
Today I went for a sunny walk with the pups on a trail-bike path. Hubby went with me. Cause he loves me. He continues to shuffle walk. He kind of harped at me cause I was walking too fast. He needs to get out and move before he can't. I hate arguments. I brought up the idea of his going to the pool with me next week. At least this time around he said, "I might think about going." instead of roar and roar and roar.....
It''s hard for him because of his fraility and sight issues. He is a good swimmer. The shallow water kind of bugs him because he wants to really swim. I use the water as a way to move my joints and keep my body going, not as a way to get out and swim.

Any kind of exercise is good for us as we get older. I hope your hubby goes with you and enjoys himself in the water.
I'd love to be able to go swimming. After the pandemic, none of the city pools opened up again. The city claims they don't have to money to fix them or staff them. *shrug* I usually do okay walking around in the kitchen while I'm cooking something but, once in a while, I will fall. It isn't fun but I get back up and go again.

@sallypup Stairs scare me now... I used to bounce up them three at a time. Now, if there's no handrail, I won't go down stairs.
Last time we went to my endocrinologist, I refused to use the stairs. We went up and down in the elevator.

@DaddyEvil I am with you on stair fright. I'm not supposed to be living in a 2 story house. The stupid gym complex that has the pool in it? Totally stupid. There are chair exercises meant to help seniors get stronger and healthier. They are held up stairs and I mean a bunch of stairs. There is an elevator that doesn't work most of the time AND its way down at the end of the building. Idiots.

@DaddyEvil I am guessing that this pool and gym complex stays open cause insurance pays for people's monthly dues. I hope Silver Sneakers continues on. One lady is in a walker and another drags an oxygen tank- inspires me to continue moving. Falling. Oh dear God. Once I am down, it is a horror movie getting me back up. I never thought falling would be high on my list of fears but its there now.

I hope he goes I am sure it would be good for him Maybe you could both join a water aerobics class. That is good for those with mobility issues, and you could socialize a bit too

@snowy22315 Thank you. There are aerobic classes. I used to belong to one but I no longer want to join in a class. I want to do it myself plus the class is held in the deeper and colder water. Hubby would have trouble due to those classes being very visually oriented.

What you call being still crazy in their fifty and sixties is just living for most people. If you were a dare devil or chased a high of excitement then it woulnd't go away just because you are older.
