Bangles - a memory

Silver, gold, glass and plastic these are the types of bangles that I have worn in my life.
In my younger days they were mostly glass bangles in all colours The guy would come selling and we would be so excited when mother decided to buy them for us. Choosing took time.
Today I hardly wear them. I have given them all away except gold bangles.

Nowadays I hardly see any one wearing glass bangles but there is demand for gold bangles.

@allknowing Women still wear bracelets here, but not bangles. I have seen some teenagers wearing cheap bangs.

@allknowing One is a gold chain with small pieces of a black stone in the links. Perhaps they're pieces of jet. It's hard to explain but I don't have any of the 'stiff' ones. Mine are all flexible I guess.

@allknowing yes, and looking at their shabby clothes, you'll think they're poor, but they have enough gold in their small house to buy a mansion.

@allknowing Yeah it was fashionable back then. Now no one wear that for some unknown reasons.

I used to love wearing bangles on my wrists and long dangling earrings and sounded like a one woman band walking around, Now everything sits is a jewelry box and I don't know what will happen to it all,

Glass bangles seem to have gone out of fashion. Now only the poorest women wear them. In earlier years we used to see bangle vendors going from village to village. They too are not seen around. However, cheap cosmetic shops appear in every mela (fair), especially in festival days or pooja days doing good business.
