Hey, what do you know, two days in a row you’re not the least bit surprised! The only surprise, I suppose, is that these two are this comparatively low on the top ten. Consider that your “surprise” for the day. To no one’s shock, here’s today’s sunny song.
#7: Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me - Elton John
I canceled my subscription to Apple Music over this song. One of the selling points of the service is telling Siri to play something. Well, I was driving along and told him (I have my Siri voice set to male, not female…maybe that’s the problem: he never listened!
) to play this song. He announced, “Here’s George Michael with…” I stopped him, called him a few names (Siri: “that’s not very nice;” Me: “Neither is your playing the wrong song!”
), and repeated, slowly, to play ELTON JOHN’s “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.” Again he announced George Michael. (I told the guy in the Apple Store the ONLY thing I wanna hear George Michael sing is “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”!)
No, accept no substitute. I love how Elton went from a soft ballad to a soul/blues feel in this song.
And, for you folks into deep knowledge (also known as reading the liner notes), the backing vocals on this song include Toni Tennille and Carl Wilson. How ‘bout them apples!

I thought it was his best offering
And I am not a George Michael or a Wham fan at all.
Infact I couldn't stand him
But now I think I do quite like some of him music.

@Ineeddentures — I’m not into his stuff, either, which is why it irritated me when Siri offered me him instead of Elton. But I do love “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.”

I laughed at several of the answers.. This was one song I sang a lot in 1974 and am glad it was liked by many people.

@FourWalls I'm old and remember Elton only and preferred it that way.

Yeah, I’m old. I remember this when it was just Elton singing it, and George Michael was “What?” instead of “Wham!”

I understand, but I would be like, “who are you and why are you interrupting my concert?”

If I knew about Toni Tennille on this I have forgotten. She has a great voice.

She truly does. We had some great female vocalists in the 70s.

That song sung by Elton John that you shared here is very good.

Sorry. I actually liked the duo of Elton and Michael. Michael sang and then introduced Elton; and the crowd went wild. This is one of my favorite songs.

Any song out there isn't everyone's cup of tea. Like today's song...you'll probably wrinkle your nose at me.

I understand that he isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. There are people who don’t like the Beatles, and I understand!
