What is the Best Meal You Have Ever Had?

When I was young my mom and grandmother were great cooks. Grandma's roast was so delicious. She was a great cook and made everything from scratch. Mom liked to experiment and she came up with some grand dishes. I have taught my daughter a bit about cooking and she is becoming a good cook over time. But, I like to look back over the meals I have had and what is the best meal I've had. Hmm. I think that the best food was grandma's. She didn't use a lot of spices and there was no ethnic basis for any of it. Just good down home cooking. I've had some good meals in restaurants. Usually the little moms and pops places many wouldn't give a second glance at. I liked their food. I have never eaten in New Orleans or in fancy restaurants but, I have had some good food. Mexican and Chinese are probably my favorites. What is yours? I think of myself as a foodie. I like to try new stuff when I can. I also am a chocolate connoisseur. But, I enjoy only the best. I will eat the other but only if I have to. I do enjoy Dove, See's and some others. What is your favorite meal or eating experience that you have had? Do you have a favorite restaurant or eatery?

We found a place while in Victoria, BC that made such good fish and chips we went back several times. It's great being a foodie.

My husband and I honeymooned in Bermuda and had a delicious steak and baked potato dinner. I remember this because the waitress kept having to refill our sour cream!!! It was so good. Another favorite meal is my pork and sauerkraut. Delicious. Right now I have a taste for pizza or Chinese or chicken fingers. Favorite restaurants are Longhorn Steakhouse and Red Lobster.

A nice memory to have. I make a sauerkraut and sparerib dish that is tasty. The kids don't like the kraut so I don't eat it very often.

@celticeagle I love the smell of pork and sauerkraut cooking. I remember when my husband worked a Saturday. He came to the front door and could smell the heavenly smell from outside the door. He came in all happy!

So many! Heheheh my mom is a great cook, that is why we ate a lot of good food. And I guess the best meal is whenever we eat together... our whole family.

I LOVE fried chicken but won't cook it myself... Mom had a wire screen she'd put over the pan when she cooked fried chicken or bacon that kept the grease from popping her. I've never found one of those and the grease always burns me... So bacon and fried chicken don't happen at my house. I did once slice a huge slice of smoked turkey off, dipped it in batter and fried it... That was soooo good! But haven't done that again. I really like Chinese foods but we don't buy it very often. Once in a while, Pretty will make Chinese food at home. It's really good, too.

I have seen those but not in a long time. An old boyfriend and I had a contest once to see who made the best fried chicken and potatoes and gravy. That was fun. We have Chinese about every couple of months. We all enjoy it. We don't make it here at home though.

Mom made good ham dinners. Boxed scalloped potatoes. Her doughnuts were made from scratch. She was the doughnut lady in our family.

Mmm. Yes, ham with scallops are so good. I love a good cake donut rolled in sugar and cinnamon. Hard to find nowadays.
