Do you like strawberries? My kids love it very much but I am not a fan of it. Whenever we go to the summer capital of the Philippines, we always have strawberry picking in our itineraries because like I said, kids love them. But it has been a long time. I love doing the picking but not the eating! We gather as many as we can and then of course we have to pay for how much we get. Anyway, this is not a waste since there are a lot of things, I can do so my kids would enjoy it more. Have you tried strawberry picking?

Yes, in late May and early June, strawberries get ripe in my part of the US. We used to pick baskets and baskets of them and pay for them by the container. I like fresh strawberries and make a shortcake with them. (A sponge-type cake covered in crushed and sweetened strawberries.)

That's good to hear. We can only pick fresh strawberries whenever we go to Baguio, the summer capital of our country. This only happens once in a while since it is a 6-hour drive from our place. We only go there once we have a long vacation from work or we might as well take a leave to enjoy at least a 3-day visit or more. I hope I can have a taste of your shortcake!

@DaddyEvil I wish I live in place like I can see all of those things you mentioned but I live my whole lifetime in the city. I was even raised here. I seldom go to provinces to enjoy those fruit-bearing trees. At times hubby laughs at me because whenever I see fruit-bearing trees whenever we travel, we had to stop so I could have a glimpse and capture them through my camera. Acting like a kid being deprived of something in her life! Thank you so much for the kind gesture...if only..

@cherigucchi When I was growing up, we grew strawberries on our farm and several of the neighbors also grew them. Ours were for our family only but the neighbors would sell theirs. They're called "U pick" patches around here. There are also apple orchards and peach orchards where the owner lets people in to pick the fruit they want and pay for it as you leave his orchards. If there was a way to get it to you, or you to come here, I'd be happy to fix strawberry shortcake for you and your family.

Here some farms offer the strawberry picking as a kind of business. When my son was little, we went to pick the strawberries and we had fun. Compare to other fruits, strawberries are always not my favorite. Other fruits like watermelon, pineapple, lychee etc. They are juicy and sweet and I like them much more. Especially their price is not as expensive as strawberries.

It would kill my back to pick strawberries but I'd be fine to eat them.

I have tried strawberries from one of my friends, but I didn't like it very much. I like mangos in this season and mangos are available in plenty.

I enjoy having one when I get the chance, but it's not something I crave daily. Just tasting them is enough to let me appreciate their flavor.

Same here. Don't crave much for strawberries because I also have other fruits I crave for and not hard to find.

There are places around where you can ‘ pick your own ‘ ….go to the farm, they give you a tub and you pick as many or as few as you want. They are weighed and you pay for them. They are of course freshly picked so not hanging around in the supermarket for days. We used to grow our own but last year our strawberry plants decided to die ….we haven’t replaced them ….maybe next year. You can’t beat fresh strawberries.
