Pedro and the trip to the vet

I am $320 poorer, and that is with a $20 discount for paying today.
Pedro resisted the cat carrier, but he was silent all the way to the vet. It was a busy day at the vet and we went early. He was silent that whole time. Only one noise, and that was for the injection that would make it safe to neuter him, even though he had eaten. It will keep him from throwing up when under anesthesia.
He is 10.8 pounds. The vet has two veterinary students assisting her as part of their internship. All were amazed at how mellow Pedro is.
He was tested for feline leukemia. Test is negative, he got vaccinated. He has no chip.
I thought he had a big, fat tick. NOPE. Someone has shot him with a BB gun at some point. When he is under anesthetic the doctor will remove it, no charge. She thinks there may be two.
He has some battle scars between his eyes and he has huge jowls. No illness or infection there. I had thought his eyes might be a little swollen, and that was where the mosquitoes were landing as well.
I am pleased with how he travelled in the carrier. I have two carriers, but the other one is hard sided. In the future both the cats will go on any long vacations we take. I am going to get a second soft side carrier.
There was an adorable black kitten in a four foot tall cage at the vets. It just begged and begged for attention. It even climbed the wire sides clear to the top. I do not know if it was being boarded or what. It was a busy day and people came in and out with dogs needing groomed, etc. No reaction at all from Pedro or from the kitten.
My cats have all really responded well to vet Jessica. They seem to be very calm around her. It is an old fashioned small office with artwork and plants and pet supplies, etc. It feels cozy to me, even.

I am hoping that this slows the wandering down considerably. It is not the first I have heard of a cat being shot in town.

I'm glad Pedro is healthy and is getting things tended to.
When will you go back to bring him home again?

We will pick him up tomorrow before noon. It was good he did not have to be fasting because she could give him the anti-nausea medicine.

If you call her a small animal vet. . . I have been there when people have pulled up out back with trailers full of cattle for vaccines. For Career Day she showed the kids tools for doing various things for farm animals, like delivering a stuck calf. She is actually less expensive than the other vet in town.

He may be around two years old, but was pretty thin when he came to us. He wants to be someone's pet.

You reminded me of Preiti who used to wag her tail when the Vet arrived There was something stuck in her palette which she did not let me handle but the Vet put his hand inside and removed something that was stuck in there.

That Vet and staff sound good. You ended up with a light bill. I paid over twice that on my last Vet visit. That's awful that Pedro was shot.

Some bas**** actually shot at Pedro.
Poor wee Cat.
I would string people up who do things like that.
I'm glad Pedro has you now Heather.
