Right now I'm using my cheapo almost worthless tablet to try to access the information I need to reset my laptop. I have been lazy about writing down information I need. Or passwords when I change them.
So please forgive my errors and bear with me a bit. I will get it figured out

I use an address book for my oft-used passwords; and a spreadsheet for the survey passwords. Good luck getting your computer problems solved.

I had a notebook, but now I use a card file.

@GardenGerty That works too. Some people don't write down their passwords. I don't know how they manage.

I think I have a spare keyboard, somewhere. It is annoying but not too pricey to replace.

@GardenGerty - I have one, but it's an Italian keyboard and I have the habit to type using a Swiss German keyboard. As I do not look at the keyboard when I type I would make plenty of mistakes.

I am pleased to at least be able now to get on my desktop. I will get it all worked out eventually. I did feel really lost today.

Computer problems do stink.
I love the “keychain” on Apple products that stores the passwords and fills them in with Face ID or fingerprint ID.

A lot of mine are saved, but evidently not my Microsoft password. The laptop will not connect to wifi for me to change my pin, either.

I'd be helpless if my laptop quit... I keep track of passwords and sites on Notepad on my laptop.

but what would happen if you could not access Notepad, because your laptop was stuck in airplane mode? Even with some of my passwords stored in memory I still keep paper records as well.

@GardenGerty Then I'd have to make new accounts or new passwords for the old accounts, at least. I'm DaddyEvil everywhere online I go.

Got my desktop up and running. It is so much better than how the laptop was running before it locked me out.

I had good luck with the desktop today. That counts for a win.
