As I mentioned yesterday, this isn’t a true top ten list, because they aren’t in alphabetical order and top ten order. They also won’t be in chronological order as I travel. This one just has to show up today because this is where I’m spending the weekend! Tulsa Time - Eric Clapton I figured there will be enough country music in this excursion, so I’d use the Eric Clapton cover instead of the Don Williams original. (Linda says “thank you!” ) Clapton was heavily into JJ Cale’s music. Among the songs that Cale wrote that Clapton did were “After Midnight” and “Cocaine.” While Cale didn’t write this song, he was from Tulsa. That probably inspired Clapton to cover the song. As for HOW Clapton covered it: the song’s writer, Danny Flowers, was a member of Don Williams’ band. He wrote “Tulsa Time” while stuck in a hotel in a snowstorm in Tulsa. A couple of months later, Williams opened for Clapton (huh?) in Nashville and they did the song. Clapton loved it and said he was going to record it, too. One thing I discover when I travel: I greatly enjoy Tulsa (central) time!!! Tulsa Time Written by Danny Flowers Recorded by Eric Clapton From Backless, 1978 Drivin’ in Pontiac:

I've only heard the Don Williams version. I love all his music.

I wasn’t listening to them back then, so most of Clapton that I grew up with was his solo work.

@FourWalls Yup! Again! I wish they'd either keep the account or make their own! There were a LOT of songs that were played so much I got sick of hearing them.
