It is not his business to ask India not to buy oil from Russia. He thinks that will help Russia with their War plans with Ukraine
Let Trump firs put his own house in order when it comes to the poor economic state they are in prompting him to ask citizens to help out
Each country does what suits them After all charity begins at home
What say?

I’m with Trump on this one!
Anything to “encourage” the murderous despot Putin to stop his senseless killing of Ukrainians, and his own people.
The world isn’t doing enough.

Who is Trump to order other countries? Every country has a responsibility to make the world a better place for every one to the best of their ability

@Ineeddentures I agree it’s shocking what is going on in Gaza, and must stop. Israel want the remaining hostages released before they will consider reinstating aid. Of course I feel for the hostages, (if they are still alive), but Israel’s response has been way out of proportion. I don’t understand how it’s being allowed to happen?

Let's do a bit more to stop the Israeli Genocide in Gaza first..
I'm sick of seeing in News bulletins the IDF open fire on innocent starving people lining up for food.
It's almost like what the Nazis did in the 1930,s and 1950,s
We didn't let it happen then
We shouldn't let it happen now
It went beyond defending their .nation from HAMAS a long time ago.
Just an excuse for Genocide and ethnic cleansing.
Netanyahu and Putin should both be facing a firing squad
And so should any serving IDF soldier who had murdered people in Gaza.

Trump should keep his nose out of the affairs of other nations
India can buy oil from where ever they want
Trump would like to sell American Oil to India though. He would make huge profits and at the same time score points over Putin.
Trump should start doing more to help the many millions of Americans who cannot afford to eat and especially the poor homeless people
Charity does begin at home

That’s a fair observation—every country has to make decisions based on its own interests, and for India, energy security and economic stability are key factors. Maintaining trade with Russia, especially for oil, is a strategic choice that reflects those priorities.
Trump’s concern isn’t entirely without merit either. From his standpoint, continuing to buy oil from Russia might be seen as indirectly supporting their actions in Ukraine. So, he may feel the need to encourage allies to reconsider such ties as part of a broader pressure strategy.
However, while he can express his views and even urge change, he cannot enforce them—because we’re all independent nations. Diplomacy allows space for influence, but not control. In the end, each country will do what it believes is best for its own people and future.

@allknowing However, he is correct in claiming that any funds he receives will be used to fund his war against Ukraine. It's more like purchasing from a thief to steal more.

You are right. He wants high tariffs for US made goods but wants India to reduce tariff for US goods. A very mean person and a politician too.

The United States is the world's leading economy with a GDP twice that of #2, which is China. India wants our business and access to our massive markets. India is 4th when it comes to economies. Russia is not even in the top 10. The United States has a GDP over $30 trillion. China is $19 trillion. India is $5 trillion, and Russia is $2 trillion.
Whose business should India want? Ours, of course. So, is it Trump's business to tell India where to get its oil? Yes. Just like it's India's prerogative to tell Trump to pound sand and buy oil wherever they want. BUT India makes this decision at the cost of POSSIBLY losing favor with not only the world's superpower, but the world's leading economy.
Many other countries have oil including the United States and Canada. India has many options, but if they choose to shoot themselves in their own foot and get it from Russia who has nothing whatsoever to offer India...
Fine and dandy. But Trump's the one with the upper hand here, so he has every right to make any "requests" that he wants. India doesn't have to like it. But it doesn't mean Trump can't lay it out there for India to decide on.

Every country knows its responsibility and there is no need for any one to insult another country There was no need for Trump to point out to India that by buying oil form Russia it is helping Russian with their war plan.

@allknowing Trump did not insult India. He simply said, "We don't support what Russia is doing and we'd prefer you don't buy their oil." To make it anything more than that seems odd to me. There's no real beef here. Trump wants India to do something, India doesn't want to do it. Fine. India can do whatever it wants, like I said before.
BUT Trump, as I also said before, has the upper hand here, so if he decides to make life more difficult for India, that's not Trump's fault. That's India's fault, because India is not in a position economically or militarily to negotiate.
As for Trump's position on the Russia/Ukraine war, there is EVERY NEED to point out that India is helping Russia with their war because THEY ARE. The United States has sent 100s of billions of dollars in weapons and aid to Ukraine and been at the forefront of negotiating ending the war. Meanwhile India is buying oil which is helping Putin to keep the war going despite the U.S.'s efforts and in spite OF them, and then wants something from the United States to help them?
Makes no sense.
