So we have three bins. The household rubbish and the recycling bins are put out one week and the garden waste gets put out the following week. As The Mister is away during the week he always puts our bin / s out on a Sunday night. This week it was the brown garden bin.as of 20 minutes ago out of 16 houses in our cul de sac there were only three bins out. Ours, the man across the road who also puts out the lady’s bin who lives opposite him. That’s it….. I spoke to my Mom who lives a short distance away from us and has the same bin days, and checked ….yes it was the right day / week etc…all the bins were out in her cul de sac as far as she could see. So about ten minutes ago I hear the truck ….i look out and there was just one other bin out ….maybe they had heard the truck too. So out of 16 houses only four have had their bins emptied today ….. I think there are going to be some disappointed people when they realise. * just to say that usually all bins are put out…..so this is very unusual. Are you good at remembering when to put your bin out ?

We only have on trash bin and it stays beside the street all week long. We take trash out to it when we have a full trash can in the house. (Usually, I carry it out when we get ready to go somewhere. If I can't see, Pretty takes our trash out when I replace the trash bag in the trash cans in the house.) Our city doesn't recycle and doesn't separate one kind of trash from another.

Years ago ….when I was a little girl ….we had one bin, everything went in it and on bin day the big men used to come and collect the bin from your property, empty it , and then return it. Now we have three bins, you have to put it out by a certain time and when emptied you collect and replace it yourself !

@Traceyjayne Yeah, at our last house, the bins all sat in the alley beside the house and we'd carry our trash out to them when I'd change out the trash can liner in the house. The trash trucks came down the alley and collected the trash but I couldn't tell you when that happened. I didn't care enough to pay attention.

@Traceyjayne I remember well those old bins that men threw onto their bags and took out to the bin lorry.

@traceyjayne I’ve brought my blue and brown bins round the front ready to put them out on the street tomorrow morning. On a blue bin day my friend puts out his black bin very early. His neighbours take their cue from him and put out their black bins. When they are at work Charlie brings in his black bin and puts out his blue bin and so only his bin gets emptied.

@Traceyjayne He does it a couple of times a year, especially right after Christmas when people’s bins are full and the collection days have been changed so every is uncertain of things!

We have two bins which go out every week. I always remember to put the bins out but I only put the recycling bin out when it's getting near full.

Our trash day is on Thursdays every week, and they pick up everything on that day. Regular garbage, recycling and yard waste. So, it's fairly easy to remember. We just put everything out on Wednesday night. The only time it gets confusing is if a holiday screws something up. My neighbor Mary is VERY good at keeping track, though, and if her stuff is out, it's a pretty good indication I should put mine out too.
