Drifting Cities, Old Chewing Gum, and Broken Clocks

You probably would never have thought that there could be chewing gum that is over 9,000 years old. There were three wads of the old chewing gum found on Orust, a Swedish island.
An interesting fact is that New York City drifts about one inch farther away from London each year. That only makes me wonder if airplane companies have to constantly change the amount they charge for tickets from NYC to London because of the change in distance.
This one has me really baffled. Personally if I had a broken clock I would either see if it could be repaired or I would throw it away. However, supposedly a broken clock is right two times every day. OK so now if you have a broken clock you can keep looking at it to see if this fact is correct.
Truthfully, the phrase "a broken clock is right twice a day" means that if a clock is stuck at a specific time, it will show the correct time twice in a 24-hour period.
And for all of you who put up with all this here is a nice ditty Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor? Maybe a song you would like to sing @TheHorse

A chewing gum 9000 years old and still surviving is unbelievable. How will they know that it is that old?

@RasmaSandra Do you think a scientist has that much knowledge about food?

When I hear about cities/continents drifting, that concerns me. I won't be around when it makes a difference but.... Have a great day.

@LindaOHio wouldn't you like to walk down a block and wind up in London?

I recall the ditty. Give has been made of many different substances down through the centuries. Interesting about a broken clock.

@celticeagle you just don't think about it right away but of course at what time the clock stopped it will be the same time twice a day

I watched a YT video about the 9,000 year old gum several months ago. I wondered how it would taste if it was fresh. I got the impression that it would have been pleasant.
Continental drift accounts for the distance between London and NYC getting further apart each year, Just as the moon is drifting away from the Earth, too.
Unless the clock has some sentimental value to me, I'd throw it away. (I did throw a clock away a few months ago because even new batteries didn't help it keep the time correctly anymore. We didn't bother replacing it yet. I just walk into the kitchen or bathroom to check the time now.)
Still, these are all interesting to me facts. Thank you.

@DaddyEvil Glad you found them interesting. I enjoyed sharing these. You know, it's funny; I never thought about the fact that, of course, the clock would be correct twice a day because it stopped at a certain time. In fact, I have a wall clock that is standing still now i know to check the time twice a day.

I've worn a watch since I was in my early teens and, even though I don't wear one anymore, I still can't get used to checking my phone for the time. I just don't think of it.

I guess it would depend on how much I liked the clock if I would keep it.
