We went to a tribute concert

The photo was taken at one of our Music Shack concerts.
Some time back four of us went to a concert in Perth. The concert was advertised as‘Blowin’ in the Wind’. It featured the music of Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Johnny Cash. It also featured a couple of songs of the Highwaymen and The Travelling Wilburys.
What I found especially interesting, and pretty funny, was that, apart from a handful, everyone in the audience looked to be at least 60+. There were a few there who looked like a son or daughter had brought their ageing parent. I wonder if some thought I was there with my father!
The backing group of lead guitar, bass guitar, keyboard and drums all had white hair and beards, and looked to be in their seventies. However, they certainly knew their music. We all had chocolate bombs (chocolate-coated ice-creams) at interval so that was a bonus. More and more, we find ourselves mentioning well-known-to-us groups that our younger friends have never heard of.

THAT is just so lovely! Thanks for sharing it. We love country music although we don't listen to it very often.

I haven't been to a concert since my daughter was in high school. She'll turn 40 this year. My kids are familiar with the older groups because we listened to them when they were growing up. More and more though, people have never heard of groups that were popular before 1970.
I laughed out loud when you asked if some of those younger people thought you were there with your Father, lol.

A few discussions ago I wrote about being asked which of the two men I was with was my father. One was Vince; the other was my BIL who is 4 years younger than me. For my birthday a few days ago, he gave me a card which said 'to my favourite niece'.

I'm glad you enjoyed the concert! I admit to worrying about you going out into a stormy afternoon/evening to go see it, though. I'm glad everything went well for you.
I don't know most of the contemporary musicians/bands now or the ones who were popular when I was younger. I just don't listen to music or pay attention to that sort of thing. *shrug*

To each his one. Our friends were keen to go so we went too. Mostly we consider such concerts as too expensive.

Most concerts are too expensive for us to want to go but it was nice to go to this one.

No, that's true but it's often the new-world prices that put us off!!

Wiki calls the Highwaymen a 'super group'. It consisted of Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Certainly a super group with those four in it! 60+! You're only a chicken! Waiting till you're pushing 80!!

Many of these music greats are unfortunately passing away. They are in that age group as am I!!! I haven't been to a concert in decades.

There will be more and more of these old-time favourites passing away as the years go by.
