Going swimming in a few

I just checked the lake temp on this side of the lake, it is about 76 which sounds refreshing for swimming. Last time I was down there we had one of those disgusting heat waves going on and the water really wasn't very pleasant for swimming. It was like swimming in a bathtub. I think I would like the temp better in a couple of days, but today is the day! There isn't typically too much to do here on a Sunday, so that is a day I like to go. Do you ever swim, if so where? Valerie who used to be on here was a big swimmer.

I forgot how much Valerie loved going to the pool. They have our pool closed, but I’ve been thinking about seeing if the YMCA has a deal. I think they have a lower price for those with low income and/or senior citizens. I can’t mess with it this year, but next year I’m thinking I could do it.

Well if it is an indoor pool you could do it anytime. Rec center's sometimes have indoor pools too. It would be so good for your muscles and spine.I know Lenore has benefitted from it.

@snowy22315 I think a lady told me the pool was an outdoor one when I expressed interest, but I haven’t confirmed it. Yes, Lenore makes it sound really helpful.

@AmbiePam Some of them too are outdoor in the summer, but they have a covering they can put on for the winter. The Y near where my parents live is like that.

I wouldn't go swimming in a lake. I'm not trying to pick up any brain-eating amoebas. The pool has been a bit chilly lately but it isn't bad once you just get in and get used to it.

You only get those to my knowledge if the water is very, very warm. Never heard of it around here except like in a pond or something. Where you live, highly unlikely. I don't put my face in the water just in case. I would rather swim in a lake than the ocean. The ocean scares me. I'll go in, but not past my waist usually.

@NJChicaa Could be..but that isn't what I read..at least the brain eating ones always seem to be in a warm climate.

I did every day in the river when I was a kid and a teen. Now, in the city, I am too lazy to go to a pool.

Find a Y. Or you are surrounded by water there must be some places you can swim.

I've been hitting the pool when we we go to the hotels and resorts. I haven't in a while though.

I used to know how to swim, and if it is like riding a bike I should still know how. But when I go for a dip, it is usually just to float around on my back. I usually go when we go away on summer holidays. Last summer I went to the pool at the Inn that we stayed a night in on our way back home, but they had over shocked the pool and the smell of the chemicals made me cough so badly that I needed to get out. I will likely give it a try when we go away the end of August. Have a nice swim.

Thanks, I floated a bit while I was down there. I haven't done that for a long time, and it was nice just shutting the world out for a little while. I hate over cholorinated pools.

It's a perfect temperature to stay cool in a hot day. I do not swim.

Certainly swimming in too-warm water isn't very refreshing.

I credit swimming and bathing ?? n warm water to be the reason I have no joint problems

I sometimes like to go to water parks for swimming. The slides and pools makes it extra fun. Hope you had a great time out there.

No good. Most pools here are scrupulously clean, but some stink of cholorine.
