Lack-lustre night out.

We went out for a meal this evening and it was disappointing but I have only myself to blame - I know that restaurant experiences are rarely worth the money.
The menu was alright, but there was nothing on it I couldn’t have made myself. The music was loud, the service was slow, the prices were hefty.
What would you have chosen from the menu pictured? I haven’t included desserts because few places make good desserts. My panna cotta was a disgrace and my wife’s whiskey cheesecake was the texture of boiled slime
I took the salmon and it was fairly good. What saved it from mediocrity was my pairing of it with a goodly sized glass of very pleasing Australian Shiraz. An inspired combination.
Restaurants really have become a lot less of a treat than before. And anyway, who wants to eat that close to strangers?

I would have chosen what you did, the pan seared salmon. The price is hefty indeed. I sometimes order a dessert to share but if you know it isn't good, why bother?
Yes, who wants to eat that close to strangers? The more I stay inside the more I like it. Every time I hear of some ugly news story I am glad I haven't been out for months. I can't even remember how long it's been. It's been that long.

I would probably have had the cod or the salmon. Do you remember the Shiraz label? Which vineyard it came from?

I probably would have had the whisky chicken stack. Although to be fair I like everything there except the parsley sauce and dill sauce, so I would have stayed away from those dishes

I have not been to a full scale restaurant in about 15 years since they are expensive.

I think I would choose the Chicken Maryland. I hate when a meal is disappointing.

When the price is high and the food is bad I would not go back again.
