As of August of this year(2025)a food prepper on YouTube has been finding many food shortages around the country. He lists ten food catagories that are going up in price if they haven't already. Here's the list:
* Rice and oats-- so health bars and cereal will probably go up in price also.
* Dried beans and lentils due to a drought in Argentina
* Canned goods (aluminum manufacturing is down 30%)
* Powdered milk -- if you store this store non-fat which lasts longer
* Flour and other baking ingredients -- shipments are down due to Ukraine and Russis being under pressure.
* Ethnic and special import foods
* Coffee and tea due to Brazil having a frost
* Frozen vegetables due to packaging shortage
* Baby formula --this can be saved due to shelf life of a couple of years
* Pet food due to can shortages
* Cooking oils --soy, corn and palm all having issues. The ones with higher smoking point are coconut oil, avocada oil, Olive oil, and peanut oil. When storing keep away from heat, light and air. Store in cool, dark places and put in amber jars for longer shelf life. Save also by not buy virgin olive oil.
He says to buy store brands and save 40% over name brands. Don't forget to rotate stock.
I hope these bits of ideas are helpful.

"not buy virgin olive oil." I didn't know there was slutty olive oil... and how would one know?

I don't anymore. I buy Albertson's brand. It is Signature and I have tried several and they are all really good.

We never run out of those things but we can't do away with their spiraling cost.

I just noticed how expensive coffee is. Usually, there is at least one brand on sale, but not this week. I checked two grocery stores and it is sky high.
