Filo pastry … for that extra crunch !

My Mom made the most delicious pie for tea tonight. It was chicken and mushroom , with a cream cheese sauce. Oh my days it was oh so lovely. For the topping she used scrunched up filo,pastry. It looked amazing, really something special …..I felt very spoilt. She could have used mashed potatoes or ordinary sliced potatoes or a different type of pastry. But I’m pleased that she used the filo. What do you do to make a meal extra special ?

That sounds absolutely amazing. I guess I usually try to incorporate a cheese I normally don’t eat. Not the usual cheddar or mozzarella.

This tomato thing calls for Gruyere cheese..but the price made my jaw hit the floor so I ended up getting white cheddar.

I like to decorate the tops. I am making kind of an interesting and special dish tomorrow night. It is a large tomato tart of a sort using puff pastry. You use different colors of tomatoes to make it eye catching.

That tomato tart sound yummy. The different colours will certainly make it look special. I have loads of cherry tomatoes growing in the garden at the moment.

I cook it... Pretty and our friends are happy enough that they didn't have to do any work so enjoy the meal.
