While I’ve had great BBQ (Dickey’s) and so-so BBQ (that place in Utah), it’s great to be back in my regular BBQ place! I continue to recount the trip in music as my back and everything try to recover. Here’s today’s song with a hearty Linda? NO!!!!! warning. Arkansas - Wilburn Brothers Even though you’ve probably never heard the Wilburn Brothers, you’ve heard OF them: they’re the guys who top my list of Country Music Hall of Fame snubs. Year after year. Doyle and Teddy (both their middle names: you don’t want any country singers out there named “Virgil and Thurman” ) first played the Grand Ole Opry when they were 10 and 9, respectively. After they grew up and served in the Korean War, they came back, scoring a series of hits and having one of the first nationally syndicated country music TV shows. Oh, and they also helped launch the career of a young singer named Loretta Lynn. This was the last closest-thing-to-a-hit single that they released. Doyle died of cancer ten years after this song was released. I miss their music and harmonies. And this is a beautiful song. @celticeagle — no, born over a year apart (Doyle in 1930 and Teddy in 1931).

There was no denying they were brothers! Probably why they had their names on their guitars, so you could tell which was which.

That's a nice song. Love the harmonies on some of these country songs.

One of the things that always endears me to country music: the harmonies.

Interesting! I don’t know of anyone “famous” who’s covered it (I know a lot of people who have, but they aren’t Garth-sized name acts).

Howdy do! Too bad you’re far away from hubby, I’d like to know if he remembers the Wilburn Brothers.
