I have been trying to combine taste and health and have been looking aroudn for foods that do just that The priases that I have heard about both the "Dragon Fruit and Avocado made me go for them but I just cannot relish either of them. I tried many ways but I do not think I can add them to my staple diet. I have quite a few foods that I consume almost every day both liking them and knowing about their health properties. What's your story?

I like dragon fruit but they're always expensive even before trump started messing with the markets here. I'm not a fan of avocados. They taste like pure fat/greasy to me. I like trying exotic fruits and, sometimes, I like them and buy them in season. Other times I find out they're tasteless, like star fruit and can damage kidneys so I don't buy them again. (Star fruit taste just like wet cardboard to me and yes, I've chewed on cardboard so know what it tastes like.)

I wonder how do you like dragon fruits, it's almost tasteless. I like citrus fruits like orange, grapes.

@allknowing If you have any kidney issues, don't eat star fruit. It has a natural chemical that can damage kidneys. Staple fruits are any fruits grown/sold in the US that people may eat every day. Pretty eats apples all the time. I rarely eat apples. I love peaches, plums, bananas, watermelon, pears, and I could keep naming fruits that are sold here.

I don't like dragon fruit. It is tasteless although it has health benefits so I never add it in my diet. I eat and apple daily.

@allknowing I know I ought to include bananas in my diet but I just cannot do that - the texture I find unappealing.

@allknowing My daughter eats them and I use the skins as fertiliser in the garden. Excellent for making plants grow.

Funny, just yesterday I was looking at a dragon fruit drink and wondering what it was like. I have never tried it, they were unheard of here until very recently. Avocados though I do like, but I try not to eat them too often because growing avocados is causing all kinds of environmental destruction in the places were they are grown as a crop!

In what way avocado groves affect the environment?

@allknowing They use huge amounts of water, and they are grown in dry parts of the world like California. Perhaps they might need less water than fruits like apples, but then apples naturally grow in cooler, wetter parts of the world.

What makes you dislike a dragon fruit. Buy the one with red colored meat, not the one displayed in your post,

Dragon fruit and avocado are two of my least preferred fruits. I will have them occasionally for health reasons or when someone gifts them. I find that they are not worth the money we have to spend on them.

I like avocado, but have never had dragon fruit. I like star fruit but have not many in years.. I only buy avocado on a good sale. We keep bananas on hand almost all the time. I have a big bag of apples, which are not my favorite, but are very healthy. I like them baked with some butter and cinnamon. I like them cooked better than raw.

Health nuts go crazy for avocado toast here. It’s like a running joke that that’s what hipsters eat. I prefer guacamole, but a nice turkey sandwich with a tad of avocado is tasty too. It’s just not what anyone thinks of as a traditional fruit, in my opinion.

I like avocado .. apparently nice on toast .....I had it with prawns years ago. It's nice on a salad. I'm not keen on Dragon fruit either.

I have never tasted dragon fruit and avocado and fear tasting them. Are they sweet or sour?

That’s such an honest take.. I think a lot of us want to love the “superfoods,” but taste buds don’t always cooperate.
