Early Morning Email

I always go through my emails first thing before most anything else except the potty thing of course. This morning, I got one from the cable company regarding my internet bill. It has gone up yet again. I am not pleased. I work with them each year to keep it down. Hell, I have been with them some 30+ years now. It was two name changes back, in the early 90s that I started getting cable. Then in 2022 I dropped cable and went to just the internet. So, what pissed me off is that the amount I usually pay went up in July about $5. I was okay with that so I didn't call. This morning I get this email saying it jumped to 3 digits (over $100 just for internet.) No, I don't think so. Two price hikes in two months. No. I spoke to Century Link which had come through here two years ago and had given me a good price. The rep gave me a lower price than I am paying, and the kicker is that I don't have to call them every year and negotiate with them to keep the price down. It stays where it is! Never changes! So, on Monday I will call our present service and give them to whole run down. If they can't give me a good price, then I will go with this other one. I think the one we have now is getting too big for it's britches. We'll see how the conversation goes tomorrow.

I hope you make them put the new rate in writing or the bills will still go up. If it's in a contract, when they try to raise the rates, you can threaten to sue them over it.

Yes, that's something to keep in mind. Thanks. I think it is true though because back in 2022 when they came through here trying to get all on their service I was quoted this same price.

@DaddyEvil ........Yeah, I am still mulling around what I want to do. I'd rather pay $75 each month and not have to renegotiate every year. I see that Sparklight's 1 gig is $90 per month normally. So how is $89.95 that much of a compensation for someone who has been with them for over 30 years?

Over $100 for internet is highway robbery. I pay around $72 for internet and phone.

That's a good price. I am still thinking about switching to another company. One that you only pay $75 each month. And they don't change on you.

@celticeagle That's the important part...that they don't change. As soon as you sign up with anyone, they start raising prices.

@LindaOHio .........I hope they do as they say and don't change mid-stream.

It pays to shop around for these services. I hope you end up with a price that you're happy with.

I'm still trying to decide. I called them and they will give me $89.95 which is not that good when Centurylink would give me $75.

Hopefully your current provider takes you seriously when you call, but if not, at least you’ve got a solid backup ready.
