Most of us know that dolphins are mammals, not fish. That they are social animals that travel in pods of 5 to 20 individuals. The Narwhal has a large ivory tusk (like a unicorn), which is often poached. The only remaining Narwhal populations are in the Greenland Sea and Baffin Bay. And they sleep with one eye open. But were you aware of these interesting facts?:
* Dusky and Spinner dolphins can leap 20 feet in the air. The spinners can spin and do summersaults above the waves.
* In ancient Greece the dolphin was considered a sacred fish and killing one was considered sacrilegious punishable by death.
* In Rome, dolphins were thought to carry souls to the “Islands of the Blest,” and images of dolphins have been found in the hands of Roman mummies, presumably to ensure their safe passage to the afterlife.
* Of 40 existing species of dolphins most species live in shallow waters of tropical and temperate oceans. Five species live in rivers.
* Dolphins get water from the foods they eat, so they don’t drink. They have the same reaction to drinking salt water as humans do. It would dry them out until they died of dehydration.
* Dolphins have been known to help humans in trouble and have led them back to shore.
* Each dolphin has a unique whistle used a personal form of identification. Like a name.

The expression the shark has on his face reminds me of Putin.
