But I doubt it. My back is in bad shape and I have an appointment with a spinal Neurosurgeon soon. As it is I do well to get dinner cooked with Dale's help. The kids say they'll do the cooking, but my kitchen is small. I just have to see where surgery is Christmas. For over 50 years we always had Christmas at home which was what we wanted. But cancer changed our plans in 2022. Our granddaughter has a mansion that they're remodeling, but probably not in time. Decisions to make.

In order for you to fully enjoy celebrating I hope that you can find another home to gather at so it will not be so taxing on you. As long as you are all together, the roof over your heads should not matter.

@1creekgirl My husband has 7 siblings, and alot of nieces and nephews, and their spouses and children, it makes for a huge family. But regardless of our size, we love to gather at Christmas. It was getting so difficult to do and we did it as long as we could. After his mother passed away, instead of letting the tradition of Christmas Eve gatherings fad into history, we made the commitment to celebrate in a rented hall on the Sunday before Christmas. The first couple felt odd, but we were all together, and we learned to play the games that we love to play and visit and now I wouldn't miss that gathering for anything.

@Juliaacv What a great idea! We don't have a large crowd, it's mainly the cooking I can't do now. Our daughter lives too far to cook and bring from home, so we still end up cooking here.

Thanks for the good advice. I just don't think we'll be able to have everyone here.

My grandpa always had the smallest house, about 900 square feet, but we always had our holidays there. I guess it was just the place to be and made it special. Lots of fond memories of that.

That's why we all want to be here. But it depends on back surgery and when.

I guess you need to focus more on your current condition. Things will fall into the right timing.

As you are not well, you could find a nice place and forget about Christmas at home this year. I am sure you can find a nice cozy restaurant with a private room for all your family.

Could you maybe go out, and just have like dessert at your place or something? You don't want to be miserable trying to get everything ready.

Don't think about Christmas right now. Stressing about something in the future is not good.

The important thing probably is to try to be together with those we love and who love you. Anything more than that is a bonus.

Seems a bit early to be planning Christmas, but then I don't have a large family. Hope you get you back into shape as it sounds like a busy time!

We don't have such a large group, about 11 of us, but just too much cooking. I'd definitely have to cut back.
