So, literally a 1 minute walk from the caravan site is about 150 metres of blackberry bushes.
The weather has been so good recently that the bushes are heaving with fruits.
I always go for a walk each day ....at least one usually more, so it is easy for me to go blackberry picking.
I balanced the bag in my bad arm and so able to pick with my good arm / hand.
I didn't realise just how many I had picked.. .I am freezing them and it took five turns before they were all frozen as there was that many.
They are expensive to buy so I have saved at least £50 so far ....and that's after 1 day.
I really love foraging.
Do you forage ?
Do you use blackberries ?

I used to forage. As a kid on the farm, blackberries were one source of income for me. I sold 1 gallon of fresh blackberries for $7, Neighbors on both sides of our farm would buy them from me.
Mom and dad taught all of their kids what foods could be foraged from our farm and the surrounding farms. When we went hunting, walking, biking or horseback riding, we watched for fresh produce we could take home for the dinner table.

One thing I would like to learn about is mushrooms. There are guided walks and talks about foraging mushrooms but they are too far away from where we live.

@Traceyjayne Dad always told us to leave mushrooms alone. Too many look-alikes are deadly. The only type I'll pick is morels because they're so distinctive. And I still ask my brother to look and make sure I've got the right ones before I will cook and eat them.

@DaddyEvil yes, picking the wrong ones are what I am worried about. I did buy a book but didn't trust myself enough.

I like black berries.but here they are so expensive.I enjoy for their sweet flavour. I add them in smoothies as well.they are good for heart and disease fighting.I commonly use them for snacking too. If I found such bushes I pluck them with two hands and legs as well

Yup..! Buying from stores is boring but plucking with our own hand besides eating with other hand gives a good taste to it.

Picking blackberries brings back memories of my childhood when we would go and pick buckets of berries and then my mom would use them in pies, cakes or just plain eating them.
To this day I still love blackberries but haven't picked them in ages.

Must further south you could forage for blackberries but there isn't much else to forage for, except mushrooms I guess.

I don't forage but this reminds me of when I was young. There were blackberry bushes at the end of our street. All the kids would bring a container to fill and bring back home; but we ate our fill before we did that!
