Okay, this is sort of cheating. Not really, though, because I was there. But…oh, heck, I’ll explain as I go along. Right now, you enjoy this oldie that’s another pin in the map from this vacation. Arizona - Mark Lindsay Why is it cheating? “Arizona” is the woman’s name. This isn’t about the state. When I was little, and my brother had this 45, I didn’t know that. Mark Lindsay was the lead singer of Paul Revere and the Raiders. While doing those duties he also recorded a solo album (if you look at the small print in the screen grab you’ll see that he did a version of “Sunday Morning Comin’ Down” a year before Johnny Cash made it legendary). Lindsay also recorded the John D. Loudermilk song “Indian Reservation” for a solo album; however, the record label released it as a “Paul Revere and the Raiders” song. Arizona is simply beautiful. Despite all that time change insanity (I mentioned that before: Arizona doesn’t observe daylight saving time; however, some of the American Indian nations in Arizona do) I had a blast seeing it again. And yes, I played this song quite a few times while driving along! Arizona Written by Kenny Young Recorded by Mark Lindsay From Arizona, 1969 Doesn’t anybody know how to pray:

When I was a teen I had such a crush on Mark Lindsay. The band was from around here. I loved the song "Indian Reservation" and was just listening to it the other day. Arizona is a lovely state and the song is nice.

@celticeagle — tons of them…well, as much as cell phone photos weigh. One thing I greatly appreciate about cell phones: when I was a kid, you got a roll of 12 exposure film. You had to plan those pictures carefully. Cell phones? Take 300, no biggie.

I was gasping for joy the entire time out there. If I had a dollar for every time I said, “Oh, WOW,” I could pay off the national debt.

@JudyEv Or maybe I’m finding songs that were hits somewhere other than the radio station (WAKY) that my brother listened to!

He was quite the “teen idol” then, as were so many others.

Yes, but not too successfully. This and “Silver Bird” were his major solo hits.

I think it was Mark's biggest solo song. Personally, I like "Silver Bird" better.
