Well, howdy! It’s hiccup day here on myLot, but we’ll get through it. We always do.
We’re continuing a musical journey that mirrors the physical one I took earlier this month. Since this was my first visit to Colorado, excuse me for using another song about it! Of course, this one’s pretty obvious.
Rocky Mountain Way - Joe Walsh
But of course. One of the staples of classic FM rock. You have everything you need in a 70s FM rock song: drug reference (“couldn’t get much higher”), long guitar solo, talk box, slide guitar, and five minutes for the DJ to pull more records or go to the bathroom.
Joe Walsh wrote this while he was living in Colorado, having left the James Gang and Ohio. No wonder he thought “the Rocky Mountain way is better than the way we had.”
(For our Ohio residents, he lived in Cleveland and went to Kent State, so it wasn’t like he was living next door to Hocking Hills State Park or something.
)
Yes, this got played while in Colorado. Can’t help it!
Rocky Mountain Way
Written by Joe Walsh, Joe Vitale, Kenny Passarelli, and Rocke Grace
Recorded by Joe Walsh
From The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get, 1973

One of Joe's best for sure.

And the perfect tune for a Colorado Rockies win! Of course, with the # of wins they have this season, Walsh's song has not been played much.

Yeah, Joe hasn’t been getting the royalties for plays of “Rocky Mountain Way” like Steve Goodman has for “Go Cubs Go” or Bill Anderson for writing “Cincinnati, Ohio.” Maybe he needs to ask ‘em to play it if they lose instead…he’ll get more money that way.

@dgobucks226 —the Brewers are playing for Ueck. Going to be hard to stop them with that kind of mission.

I only got to stay up late on weekends, so I wasn’t ready on Friday anymore than I was ready to go to bed at 10 on Sunday.

No, I don't recognize this one...
I'm... well, not glad, but it's nice to know myLot isn't only giving me problems this morning. It keeps kicking me off the site, telling me myLot isn't available and to try again later. It's annoying but I keep logging back in.
I hope it gets tired of doing that pretty soon.

Oh, then don’t look at today’s song…it’s from 1932, or the year my mother was born!

I got much higher at the Eisenhower Tunnel, which is another mile above Denver's altitude.
