Firefighters from Norfolk and Newport News Virginia came to the rescue of a man and his dog who were aboard a 30 foot Catalac catamaran that was drifting toward Suffolk shore August 21.
The firefighters of both cities were able to rescue the dog and the man from the boat and taken to the dock.
The catamaran's anchor was not able to prevent the boat from going to the Suffolk's shoreline due to the high winds in the James River from Hurricane Erin.
The owner of the boat will be required to salvage the vessel as well as any clean up after Hurricane Erin passes.

It seems like a lot of people are having boating problems. Glad those two are okay.

It was good he was rescued, and let's hope he is able to salvage his vessel, without needing to be rescued again.
