Crisis with my laptop

Yesterday appeared to be an ordinary day, but later in the afternoon I discovered that my laptop had been corrupted by a bug or possibly a virus. I suddenly couldn't log in to it. I became slightly panicked, and it took me some time to figure out how to fix it. I asked chatgpt to assist me with my cp, and it helped me restore it. I learned a lot about how to get around it and regain access to my windows.

I access the internet with my phone. Before now I had a desktop. I never had a laptop. Glad to know you fixed your laptop with the help of chatgpt.

Fixing problems with Windows can be really confusing, and one wrong step could mess everything up and lock you out. That’s why it’s important to stay patient and carefully follow the instructions provided by AI to keep your laptop working properly.

@Shivram59 True, it's like a maze. Even if only one file is corrupted, it can be difficult to identify and correct. It all started with the MS Store not loading, then other software started disconnecting online, and finally access to Windows was no longer possible. They are now in good working order.

That's true, Microsoft offers so much, and it can feel like a maze to figure everything out. AI has definitely helped me navigate through it. I'm still setting up my new laptop, installing the apps I use one by one.

@snowy22315 They have a version of ChatGPT called Gemini AI. The only downside is that it leans heavily toward the Pro subscription, and the free version feels quite limited. ChatGPT, on the other hand, seems more generous with its free version.

Yes, with the help of ChatGPT, I relayed the information to the AI through my CP, followed its instructions, and carried them out on my laptop. It took several hours, but it ended well—I was able to restore my access to MS 365, OneDrive, and even Windows.

It took several attempts to solve the issue, and I thought I might not resolve it before hitting my limit, but luckily we figured it out. Solving this kind of problem feels like navigating a maze—there are many paths, but only a few lead to the right solution. I'm glad I managed to save some money by not having to refer this to a technician.

It's great that you were able to restore your laptop. Having antivirus software is a good choice.

I have one, but I guess it is not always reliable. From time to time you will encounter virus undetected and create havoc on your laptop.

Hardware problems can be more challenging to solve since they often require physical repair or replacement of damaged parts. Mine was purely a software issue, and there was no hardware that was damaged.

I am glad you were able to restore it. It's one of my biggest fears as well. Have fun online. That sounds like a stressful situation, but you were able to navigate through it and get your laptop working again. It's amazing how much we can learn when we're forced to troubleshoot under pressure. It’s also great to hear that ChatGPT was helpful in guiding you through the process. Experiences like that definitely build confidence for future tech issues. Kudos to you for staying calm and figuring it out!

Yeah, I think ChatGPT is a great tool. One limitation, though, is that with a free account, you're limited in how much you can use it for help. Luckily, I didn't hit my limit before finding a solution to my problem.

That’s true. I suppose I was patient enough to follow the instructions. It seemed like there were many solutions, but only one fit my situation. I learned a lot, like navigating the BitLocker feature, which I wasn’t familiar with before, to confirm I was legitimately using the Windows installed on my laptop. Now I know how to restore my laptop. I decided to start with a clean slate, not restoring anything from my previous profile, to ensure the bug that affected my system won’t resurface in the new setup.

It took me the entire afternoon to restore it, and I ended up finishing everything very late at night. Now, my Windows is running smoothly and much faster than before. It saved me a trip to a technician to fix the problem. I'm glad ChatGPT helped me—it was the most patient technician, and while most of its suggestions didn’t work, one tip finally did the trick and restored my laptop to where it should be.

Before I also heavily rely on YouTube for situations like this but now l find AI as a new source of information to do what I want to since you can talk tonit like they are human. They could relay wrong information or instructions but it can correct itself if you just tell them the results to them. You can ask anything and they would respond on you the best and accurate answer they have even read your medical results and they provide what your doctors provide.

@luisadannointed That is really yhe real threat right now. I guess technology evolves fastand people evolve around it as well. During those days horses were important means of transportation but they were replaced by cars. I guess it is tye same with AI we have to adapt with the changes.

@rsa101 You have a point, they are more precise. But I hope AI won't really replace humans. Job is indeed important for us who need to pay monthly dues.

It's true; you just need to be patient when following instructions and provide feedback if you encounter any issues while restoring your system. They have been very patient with me and helped me every step of the way. Even now, they continue to assist me whenever something seems wrong with my laptop. It's like having a free online technician. All I need is a cellphone and a laptop to make it work.

I managed to restore everything from corrupted files and profiles to inaccessible Windows without consulting a technician, thanks to ChatGPT. I utilized it on my computer while performing the reinstalling and checking processes on my laptop. I would relay feedback to ChatGPT, and it would provide step-by-step instructions on what to do next. If something didn't work, it would suggest alternative solutions. Through this experience, I learned how BitLocker functions in restoring a Windows system and resetting everything. Although the process was time-consuming and interacting with the AI could be demanding at times, I persevered despite nearly giving up due to the numerous instructions. The guidance was accurate as long as I provided exact error codes and all the details my laptop displayed.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX oh yeah never thought on that one. I guess its totally dependent on the interest and ai can adjust to it. At times it can help you to consult as doctor. We used it to asks for symptoms before going to the real doctor so we will be ready to ask questions if needed to confirm.
