Do You Ever Keep Buying Something Over and Over Thinking You Need it But You Actually Already Have It?

This is pretty funny. Yesterday I was the Dollar Tree store to pick up some moth balls and a padlock for the mother-in-law's new storage bin in the basement of her apartment building. While I was there I cruised down the Health aisle and because of my recent foot/leg injuries I picked up a few pain patches. After all, they're just $1.25, right? Well, fast forward to today and I picked up some IcyHot at Walgreens as well and when I got home, hubby asked me why I had bought it. I said that I needed it for my sore legs and foot. He laughed and went to our linen closet by his bathroom where we keep the over-the-counter drugs and such and he handed me a huge pile of lidocaine pain patches and 2 bottles of BioFreeze. Oops! Apparently I always pick that stuff up thinking I'll need it and didn't know I already had it.

I am also guilty of that! I like to keep a spare on hand, but end up with several spares!!

It's actually necessary, but I might run out and panic in an emergency until my clothes get stained.

I have three big packets of walnuts in the pantry. They should last me for ages. I see them on special and can't remember if I have any so I just buy more.

Hubby did this ALL the time, except for him it was big ticket items. We have 3 copies of a DVD that he wanted, two dash cams and I don't know how many other things.

That used to happen to me more often in a previous life. These days I have lists and am pretty strict about them. If something isn't on the list...I don't need it. lol

I’m guilty of that sometimes. Last time it was AA batteries. I had my groceries delivered, and batteries were among them. Long story short, in a matter of 24 hours I found two other packs of AA batteries. I buy them, and then just never put them where they should go.

That's kind of how we shop. We stock up on things like that when we can, to help us in the long run. Less trips to the store, or a supply, if you can't get to the store for some reason. Came in handy when George was hospitalized.

Yes it has happened, most recently was when I bought a package of brown sugar and then realized after I got home that I already had some.

Pretty does that with some things. I always say I need to look and see if we need stuff before I buy it.

There's nothing wrong with having plenty of pain meds on hand cause you never know when you may need it & you can't find any.

Yes, I have this habit too. I should buy things as and when I require them. But due to interest in shopping I buy the things whom I need few months later.I buy them and safely place them somewhere in my home. And when the actual time comes for it, I did not even remember a bit that I bought it already. But sometime someday these things will pass like a day dreaming like I have these things ready in my locker.Again I pinch myself how can it be possible without buying.I forget as the days pass. One day I buy them again. And some other day after getting off the need fullfilled I may find the things which I bought few months ago I feel like heart break That much poor memory I have
