A Last Hurrah

I guess many of us are giving summer a last hurrah. Picking the last of the garden, visiting the beach, buying school supplies. Fall will be falling September 22nd. About 3 weeks away. Mother Nature seems to have taken a long vacation as far as her storms go around here. I hope she comes back with some more surprises like she did a few days ago. I am willing and able to listen to some so loved thunder again. The other day was invigorating and refreshing. Thank you MN.

Now that I'm retired, we don't have any end-of-summer things we normally do.
I can see we have more walnut trees growing in the back yard. I told Pretty we need to go out and cut those down...
We've stayed cloudy but the forecast says no chance of rain/storms until Sunday and Monday when we have a 40% chance of rain. I guess we'll see what happens.

Oh, those walnut trees. I remember the black walnut tree experience of my youth. We had to pick up the walnuts. Can't remember where it was. I got the dye on my hands and it took days to get it off.
I hope we get more rain/storms here soon. They invigorate me.

@celticeagle We had black walnut trees on our farm. Every fall I'd collect walnuts and then paid one of my brothers to haul them to the huller for me. It was good pocket money for a farm kid.
I'm hoping for more rain here, too. I like watching the lightning through my bedroom window.

We have a friend who hosts a birthday party for her granddaughter on this Labour Day weekend.
It is tomorrow, and we are really looking forward to going-she hosts such great parties.
Myself, I am enjoying this weather that we have been having for the past 10 days or so, which is cooler and dry.
I can see faint traces of amber in the tree tops, indicating that the nights have been cold.
