Back from DG Market and Tim's

DG market was interesting, but not a place to habitually shop. Their fresh food and produce was more expensive than it would be at the grocery store. I did see a couple of freezer items that were less though. The eggs were a decent price. What was less than most places though including other Dollar Generals was their motor oil prices. I got some of that as well as a box of puffs tissues for a buck. Tim's was good because the weather was beautiful and most people including myself were sitting outside lakeside. The thing that really caught my attention there though was the county is big time promoting their tourism there with a digital display of what they have to offer. Surprisingly hi tech for this place..but at least these days there are actually several things to advertise. When I first moved here there was very little of note, but now there are some cool things. I don't think anybody could spend a week's vacation here..but a few days for sure they could find enough to entertain themselves.

It seems you have had a good day. That would be a good vacation destination for me as I avoid big crowds. I am unfamiliar with your stores there, though.

Yes, if you like the water, boating, swimming and restaurants we've got all 3. There is an older golf course in town, but now they have one in some stage of completion very near to wear I live

It is really quite lovely. That is what first attracted me to this place. The water was warm, and the water blue..with the sun hitting it, it looked like diamonds. I thought I might really want to live here someday, and I did. However, if I had to do it over again, I would have lived on the public side which had better internet, phone service etc. for years.

I agree with you on DG Marketplace and prices. I use it mainly for emergencies...it's closer than the next town over for something I am out of or need quickly. So, I stick to my routine Saturday shopping for paper goods with my $5 off $25 coupon. Your area sounds like a good location for a nice campground where people love to just chill!!

Yeah, there are a few. A really nice state park is here, plus at least 2 or 3 private campgrounds..one of which offers paddle boats, kayaks and the like..at least they used to

People like to stay only a few days in one place now, they prefer short stays and to visit more places.

It depends. Some of the shore destinations, people usually stay a longer period of time They rent a condo sometimes and stay a week, or just stay in a motel that rents by the week or something. There is so much to do in the beach towns though.Same with some of the areas near national parks or ski resorts.

@snowy22315 - When I was young, people liked to spend the two or three weeks of their vacation time in the same place. We stayed 2 weeks at a hotel by the sea with my parents. Now (here in Europe) people prefer to move all the time.

We have a Dollar General down the road, but it doesn't have produce in there.

We met people in a quite isolated caravan park but they go there regularly and just take bike rides and do a lot of reading. To each his own I guess.
