Here in the Virginia there is a major highway called I95 which is a pain because there are several accidents on it usually each day. The highway is "always" used very heavily even during the middle of the night!
One of my doctors is almost 70 miles away and I have to go on that road to get there. I don't have a car so I ride in a transportation vehicle provided through my insurance company.
But even if I did have a car I still would even pay extra if I had to take the ride via the insurance company, lol I will not drive on that road unless it is an emergency and I have to.

Several of my specialists are in Springfield, Missouri. The insurance company pays me to drive the 70 miles to their offices or, I can take a transport shuttle to their offices. If I drive, I go directly to the doctor's office, wait in their waiting room for 15 minutes to half an hour before my appointment and go directly home after the appointment. If I take the shuttle, they pick me up early in the morning, no matter what time my appointment is, drop me at the doctor's office and I sit there until my appointment time, see the doctor and then sit in their waiting room until the end of the day before the shuttle takes me roundabout home again. I HATE how slow the transport shuttle is and all the waiting I have to do if I use it.

I wish they would pay me to go to the doctors.. The insurance company pays me $50 on my benefits to let a so-called doctor, I think it's a nurse come to my home and do basic, weight, blood pressure, listen to my heart and lungs and ask me some health questions. The insurance company that I used to be with paid me $70 on a debit card I could use as I like. The benefits cards only allow me to get certain things.
The transportation I make appointments for the cars they send from transportation companies to take me to my appointments. And sometimes they don't show up and swear they did. Or take me to my appointment and don't come back to get me.
The appointment that I went to today and have to go to ever 3 months is 69 miles away takes 1 hour and 15 minutes generally to get there. The appointment takes usually about 15 to 20 minutes and sometimes my ride to come back is quick or it can take up to 3 hours. The the ride back home takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes unless the road has issues.

@dfollin Our insurance company sends us a check every six months if I've been driving back and forth to the appointments. (Mine or Pretty's.) Pretty's specialists are in Joplin, Missouri, so 80 miles one way.
I hope you complain when they don't show up and again if they don't come to take you home. The shuttle is, according to Missouri Medicaid, supposed to take me and Pretty to my appointments (because Pretty is my carer), stay there and wait for my appointment to be over and then take me straight home. Most of the time the shuttle picks up several patients and we have to wait until everybody is done with their appointments before the shuttle comes back to gather us all up and take us all home. I complain every time and get told every time that isn't how the shuttle is supposed to work. But they don't do anything about it.

That I95 must be fun to ride on. Ugh! I hate the transportation issue so much. I am trying to figure out something rather than an Uber. All my options seem to be out of town. I am still looking. Last time I went I just took an Uber but I can't really afford to go clear across town in one nowadays.
